original console in my 78 master angler

flange on floor measures 41 7/8" wide 47" front to back
base of console at top of flange is 38 3/4" wide 44 1/4 front to back
seat is 19" from front to back
tall part of console is 36 1/4" wide 24" front to back
highest part of console is 36 1/2"

Basketcase- Just spray the Imron nicely. It is no fun to sand. Tough as heck. And sell me your Etec! :D

Jorge- Don't do all that work and hang a heavy outboard on it, I'd say.

Im redoing my fuel tank hatch on my 20MA this weekend in carbon fiber and nidacore with vinyl ester in a vacuum bag. I was amazed at how heavy mine was. Probably butchery from a prior owner, not original. I may do a carbon/VE splash well, too.

As for paint, do you plan to trailer it or leave it in? I trailer my aquasport, and I'm in the process of stripping the "green crap" and applying VC Performance Epoxy to the bottom. You may want to look into the merc115 with Command Thrust. I think that's what I've decided on for mine mainly due to the power/weight ratio. At the 115 hp range, its the lightest, even over an etec. Its really close to a yamaha but more displacement. I think it'll be enough power. Heck, I know a guy with an old yamaha 90 2 stroke on his 20 and he loves it. I'm pretty sure there is someone on here with the Merc 115.

Jorge how did you not ruin your hull number when you redid your transom? Can you take close up pic of where you cut?

Also, what Hull number do you have? mine is a 1978 master angler hull #39.

I was over aggressive with the sander and took 1/2 of it off.
My plan is a nice aluminum plate with the BIN and bolted on

So I think I'll be done with the floor and transom to be fairly smooth

The floor will be covered with some type of non skid I think kiwi grip so it does not have to be perfect. The transom I have it pretty much smooth
My question it on the floor and transom should I lay down a coat or 2 of gel coat over the fiber glass ?

And if so waxed or no wax and how thick?

I also found a console at marine liquidators in ft pierce that I like . It's nice and tall with a large area to place electronics and room for a side door. No seat up front but a cooler will do.

Went in a car since the visit was unplanned so pick up will be later
