Keep it going Terry. Good work!
I needed about a 4' riser for the Porta-Potti in my tent at Longpoint. I'm too old to crawl around on my knees to piss in a jar  |

Terry,
FYI. Lil is the Admiral in Chuck's family! BTW, will you have a locker for anchor line up in the bow? Also, how long did the bunks end up being with the mods you made? Denny |
Quote:
As for the V-bunks they are 6 feet. So if I want I could sleep over if we went out to the middle grounds. :D |

Did some more screwing today :D It is amazing how long it takes to bed in those tiny little screws with 4000 not to mention cleaning the stuff up. Glides out of starboard. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psbf5fee39.jpg Hatch trimmed and fitting good http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psc48ae3cb.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps9b079e54.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps2e66fcd9.jpg Junk boxes and grab handle installed http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps0b8bf40e.jpg Denny, how the anchor sits in the "foot" locker http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps2ffb20ec.jpg Now I am really done with the front section of the boat and the fun begins...wiring the dash and tightening up the wire runs. |
Looking spectacular Terry!!
Now about Chuck with his 4' porta-potti riser in his tent, he would then have to have a flap in the top of his tent so his head could stick out while he was on the pot!!! Would be quite obvious what he was doing!! Interesting sight! :) |
Hey Terry,
Could you possibly repost, or send me a PM, of your photos of the foredeck repair? I've just picked up a '71 Seafari, trying to mount an anchor roller/etc. on the bow, and have discovered the balsa is shot. Denny (Bushwacker...what a nice, patient guy!) is kindly talking me through the process, and I've done a load of research here, but photos would help me visualize the process. Thanks...from a newbie owner with Seacraft in his genes (Dad owned 72 Seafari, 74 Tsunami, currently owns a '74 CC)...along with many other very disturbing neuroses... Ed in Arlington, VA (FYI, the '73 CC I had in my possession...just long enough to have the transom rebuilt...is now back with my dad and brother in Parrish, FL) |
Whoops! Never mind...I found the photos a few pages down, how you supported the inner skin, etc. etc. My are is much smaller, so my first attempt at this work will be much simpler...I hope...
Thanks anyway. Ed in Arlington, VA |
From post #49, for the foredeck, you said, "I decided to save weight and use a product called Tuff Stuff. It is a polyurethane 1/2 inch and was scrim and scored." I can't find a source for purchasing this product.
Today you kindly emailed me and recommended scored Coosa. I can't find any Coosa that is scored, and I assume 1/2" regular Coosa won't bend sufficiently for adequate crown. This is for my 71 Seafari, so my replacement dimensions are much smaller than your 21. Any recommendations on sourcing scored Coosa, and which Coosa product do you recommend? Thanks again. |
Need more pictures!!! I'm addicted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terry, you have made many considered choices. Congratulations. I hope to do so well.
Good luck with that... right. We had a fun day on the Right Hook. Mike is fun to fish with. I think I missed more hits in any one day of my life today. I will now crawl under the carpet. Humble GFS. Really upset...still. |
2 Attachment(s)
Well after terminating and butt splicing and laying on my back for a couple of hours I got bored...
Laid the first part of my "Boot" stripe to see how it will look. Basically the painter (ease of layout) cut the blue and white at the hard chine. I just brought up the white 1/4" to give the color a pronounced separation. The next stripe will be up by the water line. Still deciding how wide. BEFORE, Attachment 4472 AFTER, very Subtle Attachment 4473 Need to get some more terminals and wire so the wiring end can be completed...:D |
Always Something
Not much progress for the last three weeks (on a road trip). So now it is time to button this up.
In my post #357 when I was installing the head, I needed to install a shut off valve on the thru hull fittings for the head. One was real easy and the other was a real PIA. The problem was that in order to close the valve I had to reach under the floor. This is where the challenge began. It was hard to get my hand around the lever to force the valve close and to get leverage. There was not enough room as the pictures will show. So the solution was to make a paddle out of the lever and now everything works very smooth. Valve without Lever under the head. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps6a879678.jpg Orignal Lever http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps6cd142ab.jpg Solution Paddle Lever http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps182d11ab.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psca40b4c1.jpg Open Position http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps6b201aab.jpg Closed http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps3a939f28.jpg I think Strick once said if it was easy everyone would have a Seacraft :D |
Good old southern engineering...... from a northerner :) and one more hurtle passed. Looking good Terry!

Why don't you just get the guy/girl that's in there with the camera to close and open it when needed?

Dash Wiring
Well after spending countless hours on my back in weird positions. Terminating at least 40 wires then heat shrinking them, labeling now I can finally say that the dash is 95% wired (you can never say 100% cause you will add something sometime :D)
Stuff all over the place. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps4a5a2b9f.jpg Behind Dash http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psa72f56d8.jpg Switches wire and labeled. I let the natural torque of the wire load level the body of the switch to where it wanted to sit. Since you can't normally see it, who cares if they are not equal. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psdf3097f3.jpg Fuse box with and without cover. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps733f14cd.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps63d46108.jpg Dash and Switch Panel http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pscbcb5e24.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psaf67b1ed.jpg Now to drill another hole in the bottom and install my transducer and run one more wire to the front... Everybody out there enjoy the holiday...Happy 4TH! |
Nice work. It looks nice and clean.

Yer makin' progress, Terry. You'll probably be done in another year or two. :D

Meticulous work, Terry. who makes those switches - Cole-Hersee?. Love the old school simplicity. Don't know who caught that snapshot of a couple of things scattered on the v-berth sole - must have been sneakin' around there with a camera while you left to to use the bathroom:D.
Happy 4th, Freedom is lookin' good! |

More Done
Just so I can prove "Blue Herron" wrong :D
Some things that I got done over the 4th. Added some trim to the gunnels, grounded out the fuel tanks, added some old bling running lights, bedded in all of the fittings and rod holders and now on to cutting in the transducer  http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psa5f943c2.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psa2227c10.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps701fb98b.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psea3100b3.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps4e7e094f.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps5772b992.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps77f9d704.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps213a1e79.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psdca09258.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps3220a39f.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps9df72ccb.jpg |
Love the runnin` lights. Did you clear them?
|
Sandy...Clear coat I did, we will see how long they hold up. Otherwise it only takes a few minutes on the buffer to pretty them up.
I am sure you don't remember, but I bought these at that first swap meet down in Miami that you bushwacker and Carla all met at. These are the real deal...Bronze not brass. I still can't believe I got them for $25 for the pair :D |
Sweet.
|
That was a fun day and if I remember, quite productive for all of us!
Speaking of bling ... where's your SeaCraft emblem bling? And ... you have a special sticker for the transom area too ... It's coming together so very nicely ... a job of perfection and love. |
