So the 3" setback jackplate has done it's job. Adjusted the motor a few times trying to get rid of all the spray, but, when it made the least amount of spray it began to lose performance. I removed the plate and mounted the motor to the transom. The AV plate is approximately 2-1/2" from the keel. I took it out last Sunday and saw a noticeable difference in handling and it didn't aerate mid take-off. However, it was 2'-3' and ther was not a lot of testing to be done. This weekend is going to be better, so, I'll update next week.

Forgot to mention, the 3" plate was not very accommodating to the steering cylinder. Lowering the motor on the plate would have compounded this problem. Mounted on the transom...no problems anymore.

Great information, thank you. Trying to picture that point in my project as I get into fairing. Thought about the 3” jack plate after seeing yours but sounds like that 2-2.5” golden number should work. Post some more pictures. It’s cold up here.

Holy Crapper Martin! That looks fun! Haven’t fished for Stripers since my annual pilgrimage north to Jersey and the Cape back in 2010. I guess you are doing well!

Michael.

Question because im new to redoing decks. It appears you raised the deck slightly??? What did you use for support under the new deck where it met the inner liner/gunwhale area and the lip left from cutting out the old deck?

Used some strips cut from the Baltek and attached with 5200 and a couple screws. Worked perfectly!

Oh I see that now!! Great! I'm just about ready to cut my 20 open and trying to have my ducks in a row.

STUDY ALL THE DUCKS before lining them up! I overthought every step and still had "doh" moments.
