Dixon, Desoto was about 20 people... :D
Long Point is about 120 people...
This will take alittle planning to come off right.
I plan to bring about 20 lbs. of jumbos ;)
and steam them again.
If everyone brings a side dish IE: tater salad, macaroni
salad, baked beans, cole slaw, etc, etc...
We can set up tables and grills in the center section
and cookup a storm. Also bring hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks
or whatever. Spidercrab will have plenty of possum fer
all ov us.
Capt Brian, make that dip a "man" dip this time for those shrimp. That last batch was a little weak..
Otto, make sure you get that vaccination before you head
south.

We still need to set a time for Boatpix.com to photo
all of us running out the inlet..
Saturday morning early would probably be the best seas
if the weather cooperates.
Spending the day today putting a "foo foo"
on the NoBones...

Can't wait, Ken

For the gathering on Saturday, we could reserve the pavillion that is close to the camp sites we reserved.

Jon, I checked with the park and they charge $53 to
reserve the one by the pond. We could use it for free
if it is not resevered that day. Carol at the park
said it was a safe bet it would be available Saturday.
That is a ways from where we are. If those that can
bring a folding table and extra chairs we could set up
our own area at the point..

See ya, Ken

When we have done get togethers at Longpoint, we usually don't reserve the pavillions. If it isn't reserved by now, it probably will be open, and then you don't have to pay for it. You just might want to send a couple people over with some "stuff" earlier in the day to set up.

I hope to contribute many pounds of Mahi. Are there any tricks to get out the inlet?

If I may add a few points of local knowledge. Favor the north side of the inlet, especially at low tide (BTW, the tide change at the inlet is 2 1/2 hours after what the tide tables say for Sebastian), I have seen outboard boats hit bottom near the end of the south jetty. Stay just outside of casting range of the fisherman on the north jetty and you will have plenty of water.

Also, be aware of "Monster Hole", which is a few hundred yards out, on the south side of the inlet. Monster Hole breaks if there is any swell. It is best to cut north once you clear the north jetty as you head out of the inlet.

Let hope for calm weather, and the inlet will be tame. But if there is any kind of seas out of the east, please use caution, especially on the out going tide.

And don't forget, we can always play in the Indian River :)

We are looking forward to a great time!

Lloyd
