engine has been in and is ready to go just going through engine and replacing this that need to be and paint other things that need be also looking for mounts before final alinment just wondering what others have done about exhaust engine now sits real low and I'm thinking it could be an issue with injustion is there a muffeler that would have a one way valve built into it? there realy isnt any room for a surge tube in there pics would help if anybody's been through this also andody have a 1.5" stainless shaft kicking around let me know thx

I've been here before ....... so I may be able to help you out. The muffler can not be considered to be a surge protection from a slug of water getting into the turbo/exhaust/valves of your diesel engine. You are going to need to figure a way of getting the exhaust at least 12" above the waterline before turning "down" and exiting out of the boat. 12" is the minimium recommended but I have seen successful applications with just 8" of rise.

And you really must have a surge tube AND an 8-12" rise. Anything less and you are gambling with a destroyed turbo and saltwater injestion especially in a small boat.

Have you considered using an "offset exhaust"..... something other than a CL installation such as coming off the turbo and making a 90 degree bend to port or starboard..... if you can do this, you will also have room to install a surge tube. And going 90 degrees sould also give you enough room inside the engine box to make a Stainless Steel exhaust riser giving you at least 8" rise above the WL before you inject the cooling water.

on the echaust I'm. gonna go with a 180 wet elbow from ssexhaust comp. out of Florida it will put it over a foot adove waterline

engine is finally aligned and looks like exhaust shold be high enough so I'm. going to wait till shes in water to chane anything

That looks like one big ass wheel, I hope you got some proper advice on the combo. When is this this scheduled to hit the water? You must be chompin at thebit. Todd

lol the wheel is just one hanging around its a 19" im going with a 17x20dqx and yes i am at this rate i'll be ice fishing her ;)
