Capt, Steele

You're 20ft SC with a 175hp was able to do 60mph. Was that speed verified with a GPS or a speedometer. I have a 73 SC 20ft with a b-bracket and a 200hp MERC boat does low 50'S. She chine walks in the high 40's. you had a rocket man? or a bad speedometer

In '73 we didn't have GPS. You counted the number of No-Seeums that stuck to your teeth in 10 seconds at WOT

As I remember (many beers ago) we measured with the speedometer off the transom. It was probably not real accurate I'm sure

Guys,

I am curious to know what top speed other 20ft SC do with a 200hp engine. With a b- bracket or without, does a bracket with tabs affect top speed on the 20ft SC.

I have a 1986 18' Seacraft with a 200 Merc Offshore Series. Not sure what the exact numbers are on top end but will get into the 60's. I also have Bennet trim tabs on the boat...Toadfish

I work with these engines in the Coast Guard. We have over 3000 hours on our Mako. The only thing we deal with alot is excessive idling that builds carbon soot. The regular JOE mite not idle as much as we do.

Yo dirty_snipe

If recall my ole Navy days, a "Dirty Snipe" spent many hours down in the bilges with burns on their arms from working with the BT's. You must have the gravy train being able to see sunlight and work top side on an open fish Mako

GeeZuus I'm glad I was a Bosun'
