Neat article...
I would not want to own the first one, but in a couple of years, as boat manufactures start to adopt these new engines and work out all the bugs, I can see the industry moving that way. I guess the market price of i/o and inboard classic seacraft project boats will jump up.
I get 15 gph at cruise, 27 mph.
Boy, 4 gph would be nice.

I have a 315 hp Yanmar/Bravo1 x drive in my 79 sceptre.
50 mph wide open,32 mph cruise 6-7gallons per hour.It is the same weight as a 454 mercruiser. It is a very economical boat.

Diesel is also a whole lot safer than carrying around a gasoline bomb in your boat.

Ron, I am responding to your quote below. When did you re-power the 79 sceptre? What engine did the boat have before? I have removed from my old (modified) 23' SC two 6-cyl in-line gas engines + outdrives, and am thinking of replacing the two gas engines with one diesel like yours. Thanks for info, aaf

The engine was in the boat when I purchased it,prior motor was a single 230 yanmar/bravo3.before that v8 ford,if you have an e-mail for me or a contact number I`ll be happy to discuss any of it with you,The boat is fast and economical to use.
