Re: Still Looking for Aluminum Transom Trim
I did the home depot thing as well. Bought a peice of 1 3/4 angle aluminum stock and used a fine hack saw and a miter box to get the cuts where the ends meet. It's a pain, but it comes out ok if you take your time and measure your cuts carefully.

Re: Still Looking for Aluminum Transom Trim
Try McMaster - Carr (404) 346-7000. I used their 2" Grooved Counter Facing (#1104A84). I'd also cosider the Heavy Duty Aluminum Step and Counter Nosing if it is available in the appropriate deminsions.

Re: Still Looking for Aluminum Transom Trim
I was actually going to have the joints in the corners welded instead of just butting them together....but I ran out of time before I had to take delivery of the new motor. So I just caulked it up. Then I bought some gray Marine Tex to try and fill/hide the joint. It's still sitting on the shelf in my basement.

Re: Still Looking for Aluminum Transom Trim
I went to Home D and coundn't find what I was looking for. Taco sells a 3/4" trim piece (PN A50-0275TAL12D) that will work but the old piece was 1.5", so I will have some additional cleanup to do on the edge, as well.

Re: Still Looking for Aluminum Transom Trim
Found a few pieces of 12' trim that almost exactly matched what I took off my '85 CSY.
Anyone in the boston area looking for this can send me a PM and I will vector you into the supplier. Rich (the dink) |
