hmmm couple soft spots...seems i said this to m,yself before also.but when i got in there and cut into them soft spots i had to cut further and further until i realized my hole deck was saturated / rotted mostly on the rotted side.my advise wait untile you can replace the hole deck .or just fish it the way it is/.i mean my deck on my 23 had a couple soft spots that i noticed but when i cut into it man the hole thing was pretty much soft balsa core mush.although it felt solid .so my advise is dont open up the can of worms until your really ready to deal with it..an i used the fellowship method of deck repair and shes solid as a rock now...thankls again fellow ship

I'm assuming the console has been removed to get the tank out. What were the screws like when removing them from the console? Loose? I agree with Codfeesh either go for the deck replace now ( with less work as you are almost all opened up, or live with it , but have to deal with the console removal again down the line. The screws were not that loose they were hard coming out. The hard part was getting the tank out. I was going to put the screws back with 4200 or 5200 any thoughts.

Glad to hear the wood around the console was sound. I would seal with any good sealent, I used 4200 when I did mine. Just be sure to inject both into the hole and the threads.

Regarding the aft deck, sounds like if you can find a transition point on the deck from textured to smooth, cut along that and you may be able to get away with less than 1 sheet of plywood, some 6 oz mat and a gallon of epoxy and some filler. I would then roll some new getcoat overthe work and your done for a while. It will get you through a few years of use before you tackle a much larger job. Good luck. Dink
