The DF 150 & 175 are supposed to be in the 515 - 540 lb range depebding on shaft length, according to an exec at Pro Line in Homosassa, FL. Pro Line is considering adding Suzuki to their available pre-rigs. Mercury is objecting. Pro Line currently pre-rigs Merc & Yam. They will also rig Evinrude on a special order if YOU supply all the necessaries.

Frank - I've heard from a suzuki dealer that the engines will be around 450lbs. There big inline 4 cylinder engines . . . similar to the yamaha 150 (only more cubic inches).

wieght 450-475
swinging a 16" prop. (lower unit is for there big brother V6's)

NOT TO ADD TO THE RUMMOR MILL BUT HAVE A FRIEND RUNNING A SUZZY 70 4 STROKE ON A ALUM. BASS RIG HE KEEPS UP W/ OUTBOARDS AND WAS TELLING ME THE JOHN/EVIN/DIER WAS MADE BY SUZZY ? ANY ONE HEARD ANYTHING LIKE THAT ?

Yup, the Johnson 4-stroke is a re-badged Suzy.

I have a 1985 seacraft SF18 with a 87 115 merc and a 25" orig tansom. Turning a 17 inch pitch prop, top speed is around 38. cruise is around 27/28 mph. the motor wgt. is 316 lbs. The 115 is in excellant cond. but I want to repower to gain some mph. I've looked at the four strokers also and found them to be alot heavier and slower than the 2 strokers. I think a 140 sukie is in the 500 lb.which could be a bit on the heavy side for an 18 which was rated for a 150 before 4 strokers were around, but as someone said you can plug your drains and be ok. I'm presently looking at a 150 merc 2 stroke which weighs in at 415 lbs. Turning a 19 inch pitch prop the speed should be near 48 or 49 mph I think. Anybody running a 150 merc on an 18SF with some numbers? and can you raise the motor some on the transom? Butch

Butch- A 130 Yam 2 stroke is a great little motor
for that boat. Only 360lbs and plenty of power.
Plenty of deals on them if you look around.

So does a 1985 18 have a 20 or a 25 original transom. I have read that it has both, or does different years have different transom heights.

whip out a tape measure and it will be pretty clear what height the transom is.

My 18 has a 25 inch transom (orig,) which I thought they all were but I was wrong. Not any other 18 's around here that I know of. Only two 23 ft. cuddy's and one 20 ft. cuddy. Don't know if they were one size one year and then changed for a different model year or mixed during any model year. Good question. Butch

Hey Ark, just got mine back from having the 140 installed and ran it this weekend. As far as the weight i couldnt tell the diffrence between the zuki and the old 175hp evinrude. They put a 14x18 SS prop on. It gets out of the hole just fine, the cruise speed is about 28mph at about 4300rpm burning about 6gph. Not sure what the top end is yet, waiting to break it in a little more to open it up and find out if the correct prop is on it. So far im very pleased with it. Its super quiet and sips gas espicialy at trolling speeds.
