Re: E-tec outboards?

Les, I just got a quote for a new 250 E-tec with a 30" shaft, 4 blade Cyclone S/S prop, purge oil system and fill with synthetic oil, Installation and sea trial. All this for $13,452.00 dollars. I was quite pleased with that number even though it's the first quote I've gotten. Has anyone else gotten any numbers on these motors so we can compare?

I thought so to! So I've ordered it! Hey doghouse, I got another price from Cape Charles marine in Cape Charles VA, and he was $4000.00 higher without a prop. I asked if he made a mistake,......nope. So I called the guy back at Oasis Marine in Cambridge, MD. and asked if his number was correct,.......yes it was! Now keep in mind he is taking my 96 ocean pro with a 25 inch shaft on trade. But his price without a trade, to buy outright was only $15,950.00. Big difference.

Lou, I think your making an excellent decision a 250 etec is perfect on a 23. I had Suzuki on my mind for a while but its just to heavy, the 250 etec is awesome, you'll love it.

Re: E-tec outboards?

Check out the information on this link over on the Whaler board. I am watching with a keen interest, as I am still running a 1989 Merc 200 carbed engine on my 1989 SC 23WA. I feel like I am running on borrowed time. I do all my own maintance, so I know what kind of shape the engine is in. I don't know that I have the weight issues that are discussed here. My rig was mfg for twin engines w/the large cut out on the transom. My fishing partner and I both usually sit on the rear access lids over the batteries.
I have 2 batteries in the rear and a 15 hp Honda for a kicker and carry the Honda fuel can in the splash well and I have never had any problems with water coming in the scuppers. I also have 2 Scotty electric downriggers w/10-15# cannon balls sitting on the transom.
