Also what about the 23 fly bridge? Did it ever make production?

Boy, for only approx 5,500 total boats made from the 70 to 80 it seems to me that they are all still in service. Plus most of them are in the process of or already have been restored to new or better than new condition. If that doesn’t say something to you about these boats I don’t know what will. Honestly, I think we have under estimated the true value of this boats and should be considering them worth 25% to 50% more than what we do. My boat will be 30 yrs old soon and should be considered more like a CLASSIC COLLECTABLE not a 30 yr old boat.

Ditto on that Classic Collectible idea. There needs to be firm price #'s for these boats, not the NADA insult of a value - based on the boat being original. Don't all classic cars have the documented market value?

I remember seeing a HIN decoder somewhere. Was it on this site? I need to decode a HIN number, can anyone help me out?

Thanks Scott,
The problem is the dreaded FLZ prefix.
I am trying to track down a number FLZR6345D470.
It's definitly a 20' 1970 SeaCraft, (superfish model???) but I believe the FLZR prefix is the homemade prefix, and the R might be a rebuilt title number. I am going to try to check with dmv today and see if they can enlighten me.

For titling purposes, Massachusetts assigns a "MSZ" HIN for pre-1972 boats or boats missing a HIN. I wonder if Florida assigns the "FLZ" number in the same instances? When I bought my '72 Seabird, I was trying to make sense of the HIN on the title and ended up finding out from our DMV that the state issued it when the previous owner registered it here.

I did some checking around this morning with the dmv and with a marina that sold seacrafts back then, and between 1970 and 1972, you were as likely to get a FLZ state issued hull id number, as anything else. They just printed them on the little decals. After 5-10 years of sun, they pretty much disappear. One guy I talked to said they had a couple boats with the same number on the decal, and when they went to title, the state just replaced the manuf code with the FLZ (aka homemade) code.
The boat in question is definitly a SeaCraft, I was just trying to make sure that the title/paperwork were in order. I had never seen an flz except on homebuilt/made boats in Florida.

The numbers on my '70 SF are FLZD98790770-1287
The original owner I bought the boat from had the boat redone in '87 (which did not last) I bought the boat in
92 with a soft deck etc, etc,. Thats when I did a complete
redo.
My '78 Secptre has the good numbers SECR50481278, which is the way Florida titled it from the Louisana registration.
