If the money is close you will end up liking your Key Largo or loving your SeaCraft.

If pride and personal satisfaction of a job well done are of paramount importance to you then choose the SeaCraft. There is no other option. Men that look at the lines of a 30 year old Formula 23, Bertram 31 or a rare Blackfin 33 and just simply LUST after those boats are a different breed than 99.5% of all the me too boat owners out there.

You need to look in the mirror and ask yourself. AM I A SEACRAFT MAN? ....or a key whatever man.

For me, ever since my dad took me to the NY boat show when I was 8 or 9 years old I knew I was a SeaCraft MAN! 30 years later I still am.

That is the back cover of the 1973 SeaCraft model catalog. It came with the 1973 20' My Dad used to own. I gave the original catalog to Jason for his collection.

shoctor - After rigging, new power, and the bells and whistles you'll be over 35k easy on a Key Largo 236.
I love the 23, but if you're hesitant about a restore and considering dropping 35K into a new key largo . . . I'd expand my search and look at some other boats.

For the same $$$ you could buy a 21 Contender or repower an older Wellcraft Scarab Sport 302. Just something to think about before you drop down that kind of cash.

The Key largo was 17K including t-top gps/fishfinder (Garmin 188C ) Seastar hyd steering and Venture Roller trailer with Suzuki pre - rig. I already have the motor to drop onto it. I was going to add radar and rocket launchers few lights etc etc about another 2500 I figured keeping it under the $20K number. I would love a contender but more of a fan of the regulator and have seen some for relatively short money (low 20's) and did some thinking. I just love the old seacrafts but the no hassle of a new boat can be nice.

That seems like a good deal for a new boat.

If you really want a seacraft . . . this one might be a good match for your motor.
