Re: I have a new project 1988 23 SeaCraft some ?'s
Contemplating the exact issue on my '85. How is the baitwell attached? Is it to the deck panel or to the boat somewhere in the bilge. Would feel a lot better being able to deal with what's going on down there.

Joey- I wish i could break awy for a few days but work has been crazy.
Schooner. The livewell is glassed to the underside of the deck panel and lifts out when the deck panel is undone. i will try to take so pictures this weekend. I am still usure if I am going to cut it out. |

I am installing a Armstrong 10" deck plate on the aft wall of the livewell to gain access to the bilge. In addition i am installing another deck plate in the splash well since I am mounting both new pumps ( raw water washdown and livewell) on the transom. I was thinking about cutting out the livewell during the winter but never did figure out how to build a hatch with drain lip . The below deck space is significant once you remove the livewell. Dink |

Dink-
Tx I think the armstrong hatch route is the way to go. Give me a ring when you have a chance. Jason |

Jason:
I have owned my 1988 since new. The rear deck that sorrounds the live well is easily removed for better access. Take a knife and remove the seal around the deck lid. Once you remove the deck lid you have a large opening that lets you have access from the back of the fuel tank to the transom. Al |

Jason , I did that exact thing to my 87, just screwed the top back on and sealed it, it makes a ton of difference for access, and I've had no probs since

Thanks everybody-
The boat is finished just wrapped it up last weekend. I will get some pictures online when I download them from the camera. I wound up putting in a new access hatch in the front of the motor, that did little more than the original, and then cutting an access port in the aft section of the live well this made a huge difference to accessability and still provides the owner with storage, although it renders the livewell useless. |
