nothing odd about that one:

A) some 20's had vents like the 23's did.
B) many people put a metal plate over a suspect (rotten) transom.

Thanks a bunch. I guess it's just a some do some don't thing. I have no doubt the transom needs replacing.
Were any of the 20 ft potters I/O's?

There is a whole host of information about SeaCraft boats on this site. A few moments with the "search" function will likely answer all of your questions.

Thanks! I'm finding out and having a blast. Got in trouble with my wife last night, though, for not coming to supper when she called. This is a most helpful board.

Thanks for all your help and especially for that layout link.

Noticed earlier in this post that you identified a boat as pre-1972. How did you know that? I've searched the board for clues but haven't found any yet. And can you help me understand what the bailing issues are with these boats.

It's probably the metal SeaCraft emblem that makes it at least older then 1972. I appreciate the comments on this thread.

The reason I am asking is that I have found a 69 model for sale nearby that I am going to look at next week. I'd like to be as informed as possible before I get there. Did those old boats have a hull id on the transom? Any other identifying marks to help me know if it is genuine and the guys story about it checks out?
