Beau,
I cut 4 inches out of the middle of the console. I'm wishing now that I would have cut out a little more. I'll be replacing the front seat that I cut out with a cooler. If you are ever in lafayette, give me a call and stop by. 2616944. I will also keep you posted with pictures.

Ikan, curious why you didn't go back with Awlgrip, I've sprayed PPG and like it, I've been considering something other than Awl Grip( actually AwlCraft 2000), but haven't had the guts to spray something that wasn't intended for the "marine enviroment"

There are many fans of numerous paint choices. In looking at all the various paint options several years after they've been applied, I'd be hard pressed to say which was better. I'm far from being an expert on the topic of marine paint - I'm sure others can chime in on that subject.

My boat lives on a lift out of the water when not actively in use. I have no idea how the type of paint on it (PPG) would hold up to sustained saltwater immersion.

As to why I didn't "go back with Awlgrip", it never had Awlgrip in the first place so there was no "not going back" involved. Should the current paint fall off over the next few months, I would certainly be inclined to go a different route next time. However, after three and a half years, the paint still looks good and is holding up very well.
