AB-I'm guessing the i/o puts a ton of ballast right where you need it-the merc. 5.7 comes in around 1/2 ton. One thing I notice with he cc is that when I fill the tank she cuts waves in half like a scalpel compared to when I'm riding light. In the LI Sound the heavy bow definitely works to my advantage.

I am really happy w/ the ride, but really have no other SC to compare to. If the CC models do ride better, than WOW! - that must be an amazing ride.

As for fuel - I'm a little crazy - I keep the tank full almost always and never less than 1/2 so I have never experienced the difference that way either.

I will say that my boat performs best w/ the engine tilt almost all the way down ( not tilted at all ). She presents the hull to waves 'just right'. When I trim up a bit, I feel a little porpoising/bounce, so I might have a 'light bow'. I might need weight in the bow!

When I am in any type of following sea, I will trim up to receive the waves better.

Hope this made sense.

The Potter Sceptre doesn't do this because the bow is lighter.

Any idea why the bow is lighter?

Yea, the top cap on the post Potter boats (don’t know about Tracker models) is thicker. SeaCraft Industries used 3/4" plywood with 3/8" glass on each side of the wood. The Potter boats have 1/2" balsa wood. Also the liners where the cushions go in the cabin seem to be thicker on the SeaCraft industries boats. All of this extra weight adds up and makes it sit a little bow heavy unless it has twin engines.

I have a buddy with a potter, I will look at his cap and mine and see what I can see. I actually like the boat a little bow heavy, in that when I am running, I trim the motor up a tad, and it lifts it, and gives me a little more speed/economy. Then I don't have to use the tabs, the nose stays planted. They do run differently than the CC's especially if you have a top like mine on it.

Lost,
That makes sense. My father's '82 is built like a brick sh!thouse, so that explains a lot.

i guess if your bow is light we can always add trim tab to lower the bow. it is a different story the other way around.
