Re: 18 seacraft power

I have an '85 18SF with 25" transom, deck never gets wet. I put an '02 Yam 115 stroke, 367lbs. Sits a little over the water line at stern, but stays dry. Never get waves over the stern, even though I took out the teak splash door. The 115 & 130 are same exact motor with different chip. With a tail wind I hit 40 once!
I would raise the transom if you can, I hate wet decks.
Look for a used 130 2 stroke Yammy or check weight of Suz strokes, if under 400 should be OK. All the others I looked at were over 400, except maybe the Etec's. Hope it helps & good luck, great little boat.

Thanks for all the help I think Im looking for a 115 or 130 Yamaha.
Hope I can find a good deal on one, rebuilding the boat was the cheap part.

I bought Snookered's, 18. It had a 130 yamaha that needed more help than I was willing to give it. I bought a rebuilt Yamaha from Ells Marine Outboards in Bradenton Fl. Good Service, price, and product.
Reply if you cant find them through Google and i will get more information for you. I am at work now and dont have the phone l# and or address handy.
