Sorry gang don't know much about it. It was listed as very rare 1958 Seacraft for AU$7,000 on ebay australia. I sent the seller an e-mail requesting some pix from the front and the back but haven't heard back from him, yet...

Dang, I should've bought it just for the buzz it creates, must admit, the more I look at Carla's picture, the more I like that Scampi boat. I think my search has begun...My wife's gonna kill me when I cough up the retirement savings for a 15' CSC :D

76Red ... Yes, there was a prototype made for the very first step-bottom, 23' and named SiVad. Moesly needed to test out this whole new concept.
I am not aware of (but doesn't mean didn't exist) any prototypes for the 15.

SeaCraft wasn't incorporated until the early 60's, and the 15 wasn't built until 66 or 67. Could the seller have meant 1968? or maybe an Australian company named SeaCraft?
I hope the seller responds & has a transom or bow shot ... that would help to solve this very intreging mystery.

Whoever finds a Scampi will be the envy of many, especially myself!

Hey Carla,

I think you're on to something when you mention an Australian Company. It runs in my mind that there is at least one Australian Company with the name SeaCraft. Also, there's a company in Australia that manufactures a variable dead rise hull. I can't remember if it is also called SeaCraft.

Just my 2¢ worth. Good luck.

Re: Seacraft 15

There was an Aussie Seacraft, they made nice looking ply/glass speed/ski boats in the late '50s and through at least the '60s. there's a 19' for sale down there that looks nothing like the Moesly/Potter classics. The fella with the 15 replied today and has promised to send a mess of restoration pics... There is also an Aussie version of alumnacraft, et. al, Called Seacraft. What got me though was the logo... Any knowledge of that Carla? Designer double dipping, perhaps? :D

Re: Seacraft 15

Ken, you are right, it has been estimated only about 10-15 were built. Records such as these, went with the company when sold. These little boats were fast & sporty with minumum HP and targeted the young crowd. They had fiberglass molded seats for easy washdown. But other manufactureres were putting in plush seating & decor, so the 15 didn't sell well. Another attribute the boat had that I liked was a glass bubble over the engine, so you could watch the engine go round and round.

Very interesting about the Logo, yes, similar but different.
Here's the original for comparison:

Thanks McGill for getting the pictures. I'll look forward to seeing them posted.

Re: Seacraft 15

I believe a few of us have made the 15 the "brass ring" of our SeaCraft obsession. One will be found. Will it be this year? Maybe. Great looking boat, unrealized potential in the history of SeaCraft(as was the case with not offering the patented balast system on the 25 and the original 21 VDH panel angles being modified to make the 23 VDH).
