I had one and fished the east coast of Fla and the Bahamas - doesn't get any better. Fished the gulf in CC's and you feel beat up just from the wind on you. If I went up to a 23 it would be another Sceptre- with a giant motor :D

Origianlly I was not a big Sceptre fan mainly because of growing up in CC's. But after seeing a sweet one in Green Turtle Bahamas, I am a changed man. With those classic lines and huge protected cockpit and open deck, I see an even better equiped Bahamas boat for me in the future..........It must be that I am turning 40 next year :o :o :D :D

We Tsunami/Scepter owners have had a secret for a while. In the northeast and elsewhere where the water gets nasty and wet and the wind blows cold during the early and late months of fishing season we really appreciate a DRY warm sweater or sweatshirt, whatever and at least a soft top with drop curtain for the ride home. That's pretty hard to do on a CC. The CC's are great boats and I've been in more than a few, though never a SC CC, I really can't imagine the ride being that much better when it counts without the comfort that a Scepter version offers.

My Scepter is out of the water and will get repowered in some fashion before it gets wet again. It is an I/O and the engine box is something to deal with, to be sure. I'm just not sure it would be worth giving up the: bait station, extra couple of seats in pinch, casting platform, greater/higher power options and some of the other things I like about my Volvo Penta. I have found it to be more reliable and owner friendly regarding service than the Mercruisers my friends and I have owned, or the stories I heard when I worked part time for West Marine.

You have a soccer field to fish from and shelter from the storm savage sytle conversion like Deuce's would be cool But I like the windshield and totally dry ride.

Convert IT!!! YOu will love it!!! I did and would do it again in a heart beat. I can fish more people because now there is no windshield in the way, we can easily fish 4 across the back and 2 on the sides with tons of elbow room. and that's with a monster console, (most would have chosen a smaller console" The ride is incredibly better (no offense :D we did go with the scuba holder on the top back of the leaning post and in tansom livewell, which helps maximize space. but there is still a TON of room. and the ride is only wet if it is very nasty (see rain jackets, cheaper then Eisenglass [img]/forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] ) and you will appreciate the ride in those nasty conditions. If the "getting wet factor was terrible I would have put aluminum poles on each side of the leaning post to connect to the T top and made a soft enclosure, but it is not that bad, If it is terrible you don't go very fast anyways. On a side note we were at he the sandbar the other day and saw an original Savage outboard, it was a diamond in the rough [img]/forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] and had a brand new Etec on the back, SWEET!!! First Savage I have seen in the real world.

I have both a Sceptre (Endured-w/F250) and a Savage(Deuce-w/2-F150's)) and I can not decide. The only thing I will say is the stotage in the cuddy in great. I agree that sitting in the back feels better on my 60 year old bones but the cover provided by the Scepter softtop is hard to beat.

If you are in Columbia, come take a look at both and we will take a ride on the lake. Hope the trailer worked out for you.

Thanks for the comments. Using the same 23 hull each configuration is top in it's class. Getting out of the elements on the Sceptre is pretty easy vs. the SF's openess. I bet the I/O's and inboard Sceptres are great in the slop........

Tsunami w/ mercruiser 350 5.7 w/ Bravo 3 - love it ( hate an i/o overall due to maintenance and galv and elect corrossion ).

Rides great. Trim tabs make the boat ! Without them, I feel the boat would ride like crap in anything other than a head or following sea.

I think someone said it best - for each class; cabin and CC - you can't go wrong. Decide your needs and go from there.

Strick - the boat was being used when I saw it. Not sure of the docking. The canal/area he lives on is one of the nicest around... Great to see your work up close - looks even better in person. Truly a one-of-a-kind SC. Once he said he got it from California, I instantly recognized the seat console you made.
