Re: Another transom job-update
I did the same thing on my last 23cc. Removed the live well which was inconvienient anyway and moved the splash well aft. You'll love the extra room since most people tend to fish off of the stern.

Re: Another transom job
Transom is done and Marine Specialist did a awesome job.
I never seen such beautiful neat glass work.I would highly recommend them. Got the new Zuke hung. I still need to install the tabs and steering. Here are some pics. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...8/100_0905.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...8/100_0906.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...8/100_0907.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...8/100_0908.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...8/100_0909.jpg Inside of new hatch. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6.../IMG_23421.jpg |
Re: Another transom job
Very nice. Can you tilt the Zuke all the way up? will it interfere w/ the front of the newly cut down tub?

Re: Another transom job
Tilts all the way up with no interference.
Suzuki also has a tilt limit adjustment. |
Re: Another transom job
nice!

Re: Another transom job
Very nice work. Looks great. Where in jersey is MS located. And is that a very small wedge built into the exterior of the transom? I figure it must have some purpose and just hadn't seen that before. Thanks. Part II.

The wedge is there because the old transom was bowed out out of shape in both directions and they could not get it perfectly flat again so they added extra glass to make it flat for the new motor. |
Re: Another transom job
Thank you. Makes a lot of sense. Wish I had found this site pre-1999 when I had mine done. Would have done the 25" and repowered with a 25" motor. Live and learn.
Nice rig you've got there. Where do you keep her/fish most? |

I have a slip at Leonardo state marina on Sandyhook bay and fish the Raritan bay for Fluke & Stripers, offshore for tuna & mako. Its a good feeling when you know you got a solid transom and reliable power when your 30 miles out. She has a new fuel tank and a total rewiring too. |
Re: Another transom job
it took a lot longer than they said but it looks great. can't wait for you to take me out in the spring. I just removed my entire helm area and the closet inside so I may not be out till the summer.
