Castalot- Chief Lifeguard at the gene pool.

If you are unhappy with your appointment feel free to change it or declare your own.
This is supposed to be whimsical, entertaining , and educational.

Truly humbled by such an honorable assignment. I pray that in my tenure at the ATF I may provide service to my country to the ends of restoring her to greatness. I humbly accept the role, and present these early considerations:

We have a neighborhood store called "The Corner Store".
Everything a Redneck Yankee could ever need. The Mayor tried to declare marshall law and shut down beer sales after Wilma. Funniest Mexican standoff I`ve ever seen. The Owner sold most of the Sherrifs their sidearms, and they had to step in and tell the City force to stand down, because they had no authority to do so.

I don`t always drink beer....

If that's the Corner Store off Southern Blvd, I know it! (Should I admit that?)

Seriously, I was born in WPB and and raised in Lake Worth. I grew up living in the only house in Lake Worth north of 6th Ave N. to survive the '28 hurricane. My grandfather built it in '25. (in 1943 during WW2, he also built a house in Miami that later was the only house for 3 miles around to survive Andrew in'92)

I remember when they put in I-95, and we all said, "What the heck are they doin' putting that new highway way out west of town?" Of course, the "metropolitan" WPB area back then, from Lake Park to Lantana, and out to Green Acres, had all of 33,000 people. The speed limit on Jog Rd and Military Trail was mostly 60 or 70 mph back then, except around Forest Hill Blvd and Lake Worth Rd.

And you could drive from Okeechobee Rd in WPB to SR 826 in N. Miami on US441 with the hammer down all the way, and you only had to slow down from the posted limit of 70 mph once: at Tamarac where the speed limit dropped to 35 mph with no warning. (Although there were 3 other stop lights: Lake Worth Rd, Glades Rd, and SR 84.)

Damn, I'm getting old. :(

We`re all getting older Father. I keep waiting for somone to try to rob that store. Not sure who packs more heat, the guys behind the counter, or the guys in the trucks pulling in for live shrimp and a new Trinidad.
Their bumper sticker reads " I`ve spent most of my life fishing, the rest has been wasted".
Hard to believe 95 stopped at PGA. Five lanes now and 441 looks like Orlando. 6th ave so. gets featured on "Cops" now.
Did your L.W. house have two Banyan trees in the front yard?

Cheers,
GFS
