Duane-Thanks. I am finally getting to experience the ride of the Sceptre and really liking it! I am ready to roll for those gag!

Strick-Thanks for the comments. The 23 hull really is amazing. The boat is incredibly versatile. The family boating time just got kicked up a notch for sure.

Sandy-I have a no eye deer also! Thanks for the VRO info. We changed out pump and it is working now.

The shake down cruise didn't go real well..........motor dies at idle and when put in gear. Just about hit the dock 6 times. Gotta love the guys at the ramp, everyone is an expert! She did fly even on less than 6 cylinders with a Michigan 15x15. No trim tabs. Tabs are less needed with the nice balance provided by the weight of the cabin. I will be checking spark 1st and carbs last. Carbs are plastic! Front axle finally is breaking. It looked pretty bad but was working.

I've encountered that twice in the past. I found that water accumulated in the float chambers and got sucked into the carb choking it down when ever you put a load on the engine. It would idle all day, but put a load on it and it would choke. Drop the float cups and wipe them out. Should run great after that, if that is the problem.

My experience was with late '60's I/O's but the principle is the same. Good luck.

Great job Danny!!!! The 18'er is nice, however you have upgraded into another world with the 23'er. The Sceptre is a great fishing boat, family boat, diving boat, etc. Just the right size, the odds are if it's too rough for the Sceptre it's too rough to take the family out period. Hope to see you soon!

Danny, I know you are excited, but first things first.

Baseline the motor. No e 10. Everything on the fuel side is rubber or plastic.

Has anyone done a compression test ? That`s the first thing I like to do.

I think the family will love it.

After you get a compression baseline, you can then move forward.

Have I harped on this enough yet? Go buy some more food for the squids.

Cheers,
Us

Sandy-Preach it brother! Jonas laughed when read that he was a "squid" :). I will do a compression check and spark check asap. Do everyone with these loopers only use non-E10? Great info thanks.

Don-Yea buddy! I am really looking forward this size boat with my growing kiddos! I love the extra things I can do with it. I think the clincher is the idea of reducing the stress of getting nailed by a big storm crossing over to the Bahamas by hiding under the future enclosure. As I learned as a kid, all it takes is 1 bad time for mom/kids to kill the plans for next time.

Biglew and ESD-Thanks for that angle on the bowls having h20 in them. It was sitting for 2-3 months. Fred-Congrats on your sale in process. Sounds like you and I are going to head up the family in a Sceptre gathering events!
