Wow. Glad to see that your family and the boat made it thru that mess. Someone needs to invent some removable dock piling extensions :)

Congratulations on a great prep job and passing the acid test of tidal surge! You've got what BoatUS says is the optimum dock set-up . . . a floating dock with TALL pilings (but just barely!) Good thing that storm was moving pretty fast by the time it got there - when they're only moving at 5 mph or so, you can see hurricane force winds for a full day or more!
Can't believe the guy that left the canvas up on that Grady! Surprised it didn't get shredded! Denny |
The capped pilings are upside down driven in 40' so the ice wont lift them because of the taper. I have never ever had less than 40" of those pilings above the dockrings until.......
Those four tall uncapped pilings are from my old boats, for the lift. 50' class A driven, not jetted with not an inch cut off them. When I got rid of the lift the guys who did it of course offered to take them out for free, nice guys, lol. I said, nah little extra protection thanx anyway. The Grady belongs to gentleman very into the C.G. Aux, lol. The whole back corner's down to glass also now. |
