What I think I will end up having to do is paint it

I've used boat soap with wax in it, two or three times a year, and after a serious fish blood or squid ink cleanup with bleach. Seems to help at the next cleanup.

Soinds like you need a good paint job. My hull is lainted and the non skid deck is getting due.
