RE:

I totally agree.....Since the Potter came first I can see the love being for them. But my viewpoint on it is every year materials, resins, glass, etc, get better and lighter, and we learn what we thought was once good is now inferior. The hull design of the potters were way ahead of their time, but I honestly think tracker did some good things with the boats. Either way, both are good boats and are derived from the same design anyway. I bet the negative feedback is from someone who knows someone who knew someone....Not from real owners. Regardless I am excited to get this baby back on the water!! Thanks for your input

It's the shape way more than the vintage. (hull AND care!)

Good point flex

Yea I guess it all goes back to how well a boat was cared for regardless of age.

Hard to compare the two. The 18 is such different construction the way the gunnels are made. Thats got a lot to do with the stiffness. You can look at 10 different potters and see construction differences between them even some the same year made. Tracker got its bad name from the late year model boats. Late 90's or 2000's. The 80's year model's were not bad boats at all. The ply wood vs the balsa core is a downgrade but there are other changes such as length but I would feel good about the 80's boats.

Im still learning as I go. I have had numerous 2002-2004 SC's but now I am branching into the restores. Either way I love all the SC's and you just cant beat the beautiful lines!! Best looking boats on the water IMO!!
