No, Browning BPS 12 gauge. Used 00 buck 3 1/2" on the first deer and 00 3" on the second...

He is still weary of it. He has shot a 20 gauge with bird shot but never the 12 gauge or high brass or buck shot either. I plan on breaking him in soon. He said he is ready to try it out so I am going to work with him as soon as we get some time off over Christmas.

If that rifle of his has iron sights and you guys hunt in close quarters, leave that scope off for a while. Practice with those irons and he'll be better off in the long run. Scopes at close range can be a hindrance unless it's a true 1x. Just my $.02
