Denny & I would be remiss if we did not mention that Bob Reiland was also a man of faith who in retirement authored "Jesus and the Third Temple". Try googling him. He set the example that we can enjoy our SeaCrafts and not let that interfere with our worship! God bless you, Bob.

Bob's son sent me this link to his obituary, along with a few pictures. He would have considered the grouper in the pic below to be an "acceptable" size. During our Abaco trips he was never satisfied unless he had shot at least one 30 lb grouper (freediving, with a pole spear!) Said it was real important to hit 'em in the right spot to avoid a "swimming contest"!

Sorry to hear of Bob's passing. The stories you've shared over the years have given a lot of us a sense of the man's character and conviction. I'm pretty sure some of these tales led a few of us on our seemingly endless quests to find the holy grail - our own Seacraft 21s.

I listened to the podcasts you sent me and read letters he'd written to various editors and was effortlessly amused. Indeed he was a character and I imagine if I had a chance to share an hour chatting with him, I'd have shut up and listened and said "Oh, wow," a lot.

As FLexpat mentioned it appears Bob lived a life to the fullest. It sounds from Richard's note that his family is at peace with that.

Denny, Thanks so much for posting some of your memories and I have heard many more incredible stories about the man who finds no challenge too tough. But when I met him, he was a gentle man, smiling and obviously enjoying life. RIP.
