Strictly going off of what I can see in the pics, assuming it has its original console. The console having the instrument panel puts it 73 to the 76ish. I believe most 73-74 used recessed 3" hinges for the hatches and pre and post those years strap hinges were used. The striped nonskid pattern puts it post 72. The I/O box shape and hull vents put it post 72. I think it's probably a 75 myself

The 23 you mention sounds like a serious consideration. There's also a 20 MA from 1986 that's been for sale for years now. It's buried in the depths of the classifieds here, or on E. NC Craigslist on Sea Level NC. Boat looks great and has a brand new trailer to boot. I wanted to buy it years ago prior to him buying a new trailer and it just never did work out right for me.

Placed a deposit on the 23' straight inboard today. Beautiful beautiful boat. Original but solid as a rock decks, new paint. Super excited.

4th letter on the SeaCrafts of this era represented a somewhat logical code of the model.

F was super fisherman, V was SeaVette, R was Seafari, and so on...

The "0" following the F is for 20'

The "M" simply represents "Model Year." "75" in this case, and the "A" represents August I think - A thru L = Aug. thru July.

Personally I think there is a less sinister reason for the re-branding of the 20. The re-stamp is so crappy and haphazard that it likely may have been a fire restoration or other situation where a re-title was required and new serial number. In either case the OP is going to be way better off with his second choice.
