Nice catch! I've been traveling but will be back for the tournament date, I hope I have time to get the boat running before then, she's kind of sorry looking at the moment! :(

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

This is what Noahsark wrote before:

After giving it some thought this is what I am thinking, feedback please!!

Alright fellas in the spirit of keeping it real & simple the tournament date would be June 10th, the entry fee per boat would be $50.00, & the breakdown is as follows.

$35.00 per boat will go into the prize money.

$10.00 per boat will go into covering the cost for the after party BBQ (Anglers Only or family?)if family we need to re-visit it then.

$5.00 per boat will be used to donate to our awesome web-site, after all its because of it that we even have the opurtunity to do this

I was thinking that for the BBQ we would again keeping it simple p/u burgers, dogs, chips, soda, & water. I know its not much but this is the one part that can get expensive really fast. If for some miraculous reason there is money left over that is designated for the BBQ it will be put into the prize money pot.

One last thing, it would be if we had a couple of guys step and help out with being in charge of coordinating the food for the BBQ. Let me know what you think!

Please send him your feedback on this.

My outdrive is ready to be re-installed and we're just working on the trim system now. Then I'll tackle the wood side panels (I'm replacing them with Plasteak or Starboard). Hopefully that will be finished before the tournament. If not I'll be fishing her anyway.

Sounds good! I just got the last few parts for the boat's tilt/trim system and will put them in tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to take her out on Sunday, if not tomorrow afternoon. :D

nestorpr 05-02-2006 10:33 PM

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

OK, the drive's been resealed, U-Joints replaced and has been installed, the tilt/trim motor is now on an aluminum bracket and operating. Not much was left of the old steel bracket, hell the solenoids were just hanging by the wires! Both T/T cylinders have been rebuilt and the carb also. This weekend I'll re-tune the engine and see how everything works. $600 in the hole already! Hopefully everything will be OK to be ready for June! :D

jorgeinmiami 05-03-2006 07:12 PM

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

Only $600/ that's it?

Sounds like a deal to me :D

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

Well, actually a bit more since I did purchase some parts myself for $80 and I gave the guy a $42 tip for a good job. He's a mobile boat mechanic and comes to the boat to do the work. I haven't tried the repairs out yet but am confident everything will work fine, he seems to know what he's doing. I actually thought it was a bit high but I've rarely had any work done by someone else. You think it's a good price?

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

Well fellas after (4) weeks this Friday of not posting, I am back in spirits to start posting again. (4)weeks ago I spent two days in the hospital with very serious back & chest pain that just came on unexpectedley, come to find out after a series of test were done I have two herniated disc in my thorasic and I have been in a special brace that covers my whole chest & back since then, it's called a TLSO, they also have me on several meds. I have (2)more weeks to go before they redo the MRI to determine how it's healing and for how much longer I have to where the brace. Originally they estimated 6-8 weeks, I am hoping that stays true. I dont know what is going to be my status by the time the tourny comes around, things are just to uncertain right now. I am trying to be as positive as I can so I will remain hopeful that I will be able to participate, when it comes time to being realistic it's more likely that I will not be fishing the tourny or this summer. I will keep you guys posted ;)

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

Sounds awful! Sorry to hear you've been going thru all that. Seems like this year has been hard on quite a few of us, my sister passed away in January and my father just a couple of weeks ago. Please take good care of yourself and don't worry about the tourney, if necessary we can reschedule for a later time.

nestorpr 05-13-2006 01:34 AM

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

Well, I'm out. Today I found out my engine has seized up for unknown reasons since it ran fine before we repaired the outdrive, good oil, no water intrusion, etc. Darn thing won't turn even with the plugs out. Now I'll have to look into a new engine so I don't think I'll have a boat for the tournament. :(

Nestor , that's a tough break I wonder what happened?

If you want we could go in mine, although it's not a seacraft it may still catch fish

nestorpr 05-13-2006 09:51 PM

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

I'm not sure but my mechanic says that the Mercruiser 3.0 liters tend to do that if you don't turn them over once every 3 months or so. Since mine was laid up since Dec. perhaps that's what happened. I was told to fill up the cylinders with Marvel's Mystery Oil and leave it for a few days. I did that today and will be back from the USVI on Wednesday so we'll see if that does the trick.

Oh well, but the good news is that the wife agrees that we should repower her soon so I'm starting to look for deals! Let me know if you know any Mercruiser dealers with good prices. :D

As for the tournament I accept the invite. Let me know what to bring besides the fishing gear. Thanks! :D

Well, that date, June 10, I will be at my daughter's dance recital, but against my better judgement, I will have my son and his friends go in the tourney in my behalf, on my boat. Time to see if they can find fish on their own!!

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

The fishing tournament Noahsark was organizing for June 10 has stalled. I know from his posts that he has been in the hospital with back problems and may not be able to attend. I have sent him a message but I have not gotten a reply and he has not posted since 05/09. I have been in touch with Capt. Brad who has moved to Melbourne but still wants to support it through his company, Frenzie Lures, Inc. Over 14 boat owners expressed an interest which would give us 30 – 45 participants. I will volunteer to collect the entry fees and buy the supplies unless Noahsark is able to continue to organize it, in which case, I offer my help and support to him to carry on.

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

Jim,

I am interested in going south. Moving the date sounds like the right thing to do. I need help with lodging, launching and where to store the trailer. Do you have any advice?

You can launch from Matheson Hammock Marina, Coral Gables or Black Point or Homestead Bayfront Park in Homestead . You can leave the trailer at any of them overnight while you are boating.

Black Point or Bayfront park are closer to Elloit but I would suggest Matheson Hammock which is about a 30. min. run to Elliot.. http://www.miamidade.gov/parks/Parks...son_marina.asp

I would suggest reservations at the Quality Inn South Kendall. 14501 S. Dixie Hwy. Miami - It's on US1, easy to find and is the closest one to Matheson Hammock with good restaurants, shopping and two marine stores nearby. Rooms for 2 - 4 are $87.00 - $97.00. I don't have a number for reservations but you can call any of the booking services. I can recomend other motels if you prefer.
You can find directions on the internet using MapQuest
http://www.mapquest.com/

If you will be arriving before 06/17, you can drop the boat/ trailer at my house which is about 5 miles from the motel, before and after the event..

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

i am still interested in the tournament. although i don’t do much trolling, mainly bottom fishing for me. June 17 would be better for me because it would give me more time to find a mate.
let me know which day so i can make arrangements with work as well. Thanks

Looks like June 17. I can give you numbers on several wrecks off Elliot if you want to live bait. I always leave at least one on the surface for Sails. You never know.

SEACRAFT FISHING TOURNAMENT JUNE 17

join us at 3:30 for the BAR-B-QUE for only $7.50 per person. Registration required so we can have plenty for everyone.

______ Fishing Tournament and Bar-B-Que $55.00/ Boat ( Up to 4) Add. $5.00 @

______ Can’t make the fishing but count me in for the Bar-B-Que $7.50 per person

Capt. Jim, thanks for taking over, it looks like Noahsark is out for a while and I've been away for the last 3 weeks, Chile, Peru and Ecuador this time. I won't be here for the 17th but I can help with the groceries or other things this week. I can purchase at the Homestead ARB BX and BJ's so let me know what I can help with. I may be here next week but I won't know until Friday but if I am I can also help out until the 15th.

Re: S.Fla Seacraft Owners Fishing Tournament

Botapeje
Thanks for the offer to help. We have 3 boats committed so far and time is short. There doesn't seem to be much interest in fishing but it's a great opportunity to meet other SeaCraft owners and compare boats.

I'm wondering if we would get more participation if we dropped the fishing and made it a family SeaCraft gathering instead. Let's see how many we can get if we make it a Bar-B-Que at 1:00. It would be a more relaxing day and easier for famlies to participate. I will start a new thread for the Bar-B-que and see if we have any interest.
