I live in Islamorada, i am also 17. i found a 1973 23 seacraft in Tavernier, spent the last year refinishing the boat almost done. i saw a few 20 and 23 seacraft's along the road in big pine key and in marathon, i dont remember how much the 20 in marathon was but it looked nice with newer yamaha 150. lots of boats in lower keys at different marina's. i would just call around.

Re: I am looking for a Boat!

An 18 is a perfect boat for down there if you can find one, and no you don't need the cuddy to hot down there and yes you can sleep on one I did, Sand Key Light. A flipback seat is a great option-flip it forward and you can sit and look at baits and its just the perfect hieght to prevent non-skid burn.... unless your a midget

Anyone else got any info on some boats for sale?

Rich 05-25-2007 02:56 PM

Re: I am looking for a Boat!

My advice is to get off your ass and go buy one of the many Seacraft's that are available for under $8K. Half the people on this site have driven accross the country to buy one. If you can't find one in Florida, you are destined to be FISHANDFATCHICKS forever..

Re: I am looking for a Boat!

If you can not drive to West Palm Beach from Key West,
you might as well give up!!!!!!
I just saw 2 under $6000 in Palm Beach in the Boat Trader.
At 17 I would think you would have a license or a buddy with
a vehicle to tow a boat from there to Key West. Maybe a
4.5 hour ride up US-1 to the Turnpike to WPB.

Corey 05-25-2007 09:23 PM

Re: I am looking for a Boat!

I guess people don't understand all the crap involved in doing something like that. Gas prices, finding a person willing to do that, and all sorts of stuff. Its not as easy as you say. I don't have my liscense yet because I rid emy bike everywhere I go bbecause Key West is only a 12 mile round island. No pricey gas for me.

And you want to buy a 20SF that might get 2 miles to the gallon? Maybe you don't get-it!!
You say your budget is now $8000 !! Tell you what, send me the $8000, I will pick-up the $6000 boat in WPB and deliver
for that left over $2000. Now does that make sense to you????? Surely you can find someone down there to do-it
for alot less then that.

Re: I am looking for a Boat!

Make the move!!! I drove from Eastern NC to Fort Myers Beach to pick up mine. I could only wish that it was a 4.5 hour drive. Time to get the lead out and act if you are serious. :D

Re: I am looking for a Boat!

WHo said anything about me spending all the 8 grand. Your totally derailing my thread man. I posted this because i wanted to know about any other good sites and what not to buy a boat. I would think that i can get a seacraft with a decent motor on it for 5-8 grand. I don't have the time nor the funds or car to travela long distance for a boat. I don't have the leisure of being an adult. I have school work and more school. So stop derailing my thread please. And i apologizee to anyone who was/is offended.

Re: I am looking for a Boat!

Your gonna need a JOB to make the CASH to buy the GAS,OIL,ETC. to fuel the BOAT that will get the CHICKS that will want you to have a CAR that needs GAS that will take CASH to buy the GAS,INSURANCE,ETC. that will let you take the CHICKS to dinner, movies, parties, etc. You will then need an apartment or house cause you dont want to bring the chicks home to meet the parents. You will also need a place to keep the boat and that will cost more CASH. GAS costs over $3 a gallon. Outboard oil anywhere between $10 and $20.
:D

Yo . . . that attitude is not gonna fly anywhere. Hate to break it to you, but high school is as easy as it gets. You have ZERO expenses, ZERO debts, free meals, no job, no mortgage, no kids, and no responsibility. Part of becoming an adult is getting off your ass and figuring out how to solve a problem.

No offense but your problem of buying a boat . . . is as simple as they come. The hard part of earning 8k is done . . . all you have to do is find a boat and buy it. You've already been spoon fed all the best online boat buying resources and handed a 8k check. Make it happen!! If this "real life" problem is too challenging for you . . . then you are in for a rude awakening.

Re: I am looking for a Boat!

It isn't to challenging for me at all. I had the idea that these forums were to help people and give info and stuff. I was just loooking if anyone has boats for sale and what sites there are. And i was updating it to see what boats are out there. Guess i can't talk online though.... It's ok i am doing what i can to find my boat. Thats all i can do!!

Re: I am looking for a Boat!

I get it! You are looking for a 20 SF in good usable condition for $5K or less within a bikes ride distance to be delivered to you. This forum has given you good advice based on years of personal experience. You might just want to rethink your attitude.
