Re: Old Seacraft Race Pics
Gilly, That bow flare really exists. Its on the stock Boats.
They cut the bow down on the 23, so they don't exist on that hull. It does on the production 21. |
Re: Old Seacraft Race Pics
So is the blue one a race 21 like yours or what? it kind of looks like my Seafari, heh, heh...
|
Re: Old Seacraft Race Pics
Early race rules required raceboats to be stock boats ... so in the early 60's the production 21' was raced. Mid 60's, the race rules changed, and the sheer line of the 21 was cut down for sleeker race boats.
Sandy, our 21 is an early 60's raceboat, and a few years ago, a gentleman contacted Moesly as he had just acquired a raceboat built to specs in mid-late 60's. New owner was going to restore her for his personal use. Big ... thanks for sharing the vintage photos. |

My father passed away on June 2nd. Dad touched many people in the South Florida boating community, having been in the Boat Business for over fifty years as a dealer for various brands of boats and motors, as well as a boat builder.

Frank,
Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Clearly, based on the number of folks on this thread alone, he had a huge impact on the performance boating and SeaCraft scene. Cherish the memories, and Godspeed, Mr Frank Brown III. Thanks for sharing some of that history with us. Best wishes to you and your family. |
Re: Frank G. Brown III, 07-06-1934 - 06-02-2010
Very sad news ... and so sorry for your loss.
My father always considered your father as one of the best dealers SeaCraft ever had. He also knew his Merc engines & could practically recite the manual.... had a problem? he knew how to fix it. When I bought our Bowrider, I remember Frank telling me how he used to fill the front cockpit with water & let you young ones play in it while he fished. He leaves behind many memories. Carla |

Sorry for your loss. And thanks for sharing those early photos of your father and the boats he sold and raced. RIP Mr Frank Brown.

Love all the picures! Yes... This hull was pulled from the same mold as #31 which I believe is a 25. At 28' this was the longest from that mold. Was told 6 or 8 boats were built from that particular mold. Hopefully plan to start the restoration next winter. |
Re: Old Seacraft Race Pics
Does this hull only have 1 step on each side?

I'm with uncleboo on this one, there were NO 28ft race boats from Carl Moesly! See ya, Ken |
Re: Old Seacraft Race Pics
Flying time post up some more pics lets see what youve got there!

Re: Old Seacraft Race Pics
Do not mean to derail this thread to Mr. Brown, but
your boat is not a SeaCraft... :( See ya, Ken |
Re: Old Seacraft Race Pics
Wanna bet?
|
Re: Old Seacraft Race Pics
I agree with NoBones.. not a SeaCraft there is only one step and no variable dead rise. But we could have Carla ask Carl for us... CARLA!!!!

Re: Old Seacraft Race Pics
It's the same hull as #31. Look closely at Mr. Brown's boat... It has about 3" more freeboard and 3ft longer. I does have VDR only slighly different than you're used to seeing. The boat is so narrow (8ft max sheer beam) that it needed only 1 step per side.

I`m sorry to hear this. I hear the fishing is always good, your motor runs fine, and you don`t even need a trailer.
Mark was kind enough to walk me around the VDH Hybrid 27 out of the mold last fall. Very interesting. Saw it in the slip this year at the show on Friday. Amazing numbers and very pretty. Sorry Mark wasn`t there `til Saturday. They lived in a window when anyone could compete. Even ladies. :D Remember him well and often. Cheers, GFS |

Fishing is good in heaven.
Mark Hauptner`s new Ocean Master 27 is sweet. Run watcha brung was lots more fun than corporate sponsorships. My english teachers used to flag me for "flowery prose". Guess I still haven`t learned. :D Cheers, GFS |

The rear lifting rings are the same as on my 21' :D |

Re: Old Seacraft Race Pics
The lifting rings look like they could be original but I'm not sure. This boat was restored, very poorly by the way, once before as a CC. Since then that work has all gone to dust leaving the solid glass hull, stringers and crusty plumping for the fwd. seawater balast tank.

Re: Old Seacraft Race Pics
Is it an old C Hawk. It kinda looks like one. Hard to tell with out the gunwales and cabin, but doesnt look like a SeaCraft.
