Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
I wouldn't mind getting one for our Tsunami but if I'm reading this right, you'd need a dozen of the same exact stickers to place an order right? While it would be cool to have for $10-20, I couldn't justify spending over $100 for a whole sheet on my own. Any other Sceptre/Tsunami owners out there looking for these?

Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
Frank,
I'll need one for the Seafari 20 when the 2.4L goes on and one for Seavette. According to the literature the 23's were rated for 500 hp. |

Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
how many people would need them for their 23's i need one
|
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
We're up to 9.
|
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
I'll take one for a '73 23' if available.
|
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
Add me to the 23' list. After Reelescape's request plus mine, we should be at 11.
|
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
Let me be clear. The list has to be for identical decals, not total decals. The minimum run is 12 decals that are the same. So for 23's, there would have to be 12 decals ordered for 23's, or 12 for 20's, etcetera.

Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
I need one for a 23 too!
|
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
I'll get back to you. Mine is still legible, just looks like crap.
|
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
I'm still good for the 23', when you get to a dozen of the 23'ers let me know what I owe.

Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
The formula for multiple engines is different. I don't have the current (2005) publication.
My 1987 USCG home boat-builder's publication says the max rating is dependent on the height of your transom and length of your boat. For twin-OB vessels less than 20'0" in length with a transom of 20" or 15", the formula is the same as for a single motor. For twin-OB vessels less than 20'0" in length with a transom of 25" or greater, the multiplication factor is 2.5. So a 19'8" SeaCraft with a 25" transom and twin engines has a maximum hp formula that is (20X8X2.5)-90=310. [b]For vessels over 20'1", there is no legal maximum horsepower, only "manufacturer's recommended maximum horsepower". The USCG recommended using a test called the "quick-turn test" to determine the maximum safe horsepower limitation for home boat builders, where your maximum safe horsepower was whatever you could make a full-throttle turn with. The turn was accomplished by turning the steering wheel 180* at full speed with whatever prop you had installed. If you could do that without losing control, you were good. That's very subjective. If I was using twin V6 Merc EFI's from 1997, with a maximum engine angle of 37.5* from center, and a SeaStar hydraulic steering system with 4.2 turns lock to lock, a 180* turn of the steering wheel will only turn the motor angle to 8 degrees from centered. While I wouldn't try turning like that with an Allison XTB at 105 mph, I would have no problem doing that with a 23' SeaCraft with twin 300 hp motors at full throttle and max trim. So legal max OB horsepower for a 23 is pretty much whatever you want it to be. I would probably just stick the to old 500 hp max rating on the Potter built hulls. |
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
you can count me in for one 23' cc sticker
do they have to say what model it is or is seacraft good enough to get an order together thanks matt |

Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
please let me know how to pay for one thanks george
|
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
Not sure if it would be the same tag for a Seafari and a Superfisherman, but if you are still looking for people to pitch in, I will take two (both 20 SF (CC)). Just let me know how to pay.

Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
Do you have to order full sheets? (can you order 13, 14 etc, or would it jump from 12 to 24?) If you can add me in without too much trouble, I will take one for the 20.
Thanks for putting in the effort for the rest of us! |
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
Okay. I'll order the decals for the 20. 12 is the minimum order, and can be increased by multiples of 4 decals. I'll get a count, and PM everyone who has said they want one before I order. Give me a coupe of days to talk to the company. They will all read the same, as above in the last graphic in this thread.

Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
I have the following CSC members wanting decals for the 20' hull.
Shana - 1 copout - 1 Caymanboy - 3 SeaPlusPlus - 1 CaptLloyd - 1 McGillicudy - 1 Roger - 2 Hookdude - 1 muddywater - 2 ElBichoMalo - 1 Mitchman - 1 TEH - 1 Seafari - 1 I count that as a total of 17 decals. So I have to order 20. I called LetterRite today and ordered the decals, and they should be here in 7-10 days. So far, muddywater has paid for his, as has Seafari. I'll be PM'ing each of you to paypal me the $ so I'm not left hanging. Also note, I ordered 20, when only 17 were requested. So if you know of another 20' owner who wants or needs one, tell 'em about it. |
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
Fr. Frank, Do you get clipped a fee from PayPal? Give me a call (585-314-2700) If I can get your address I'll send you a Postal Money order. Good as cash! Let me know and thanks. Tim
|
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
Yes, PayPal charges me 66 cents, but my actual cost including postage to you guys is 11.83 per decal, so after the PayPal fee I actually make 1 cent profit on each one. :D :D
|
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
Fr Frank,
Sorry to get in on this so late, but if you have an extra from your order, I'd appreciate one for my 1976 20SF. And thanks for your efforts in behalf of all of us! dcobbett |
Re: Fed requirement for USCG max capacity plate
Payment sent! Thanks for working this out for all of us. The community on this site never ceases to amaze me. Wish I was down in Fl so I could come to the meet ups and buy you all a beer. :D
