I just tossed out all my Sears Catalogs and wallpapered the walls with Strick's photos.

Btw: Carla, you need too start a Scampi Scrap Book:p

No wallpaper paste necessary.

Sorry was looking at the pictures of the engine and out drive and must confess my ignorance here . I assumed the out drive was a omc? But can't puta finger on what block they were using for the 120 hp

Looks like a Buick V6, old school.

perfect

The out drive is a Volvo 200 and the engine is a Buick maybe a 225. I haven't found a lot of information on that yet. I had an old jeep with the Buick V6 engine. It ran well but always rich. I like Mercruser out drives, I have a lot of experience with them. The transom is one of the few places there is wood and it looks soft. The transom plate bolts have collapsed or dimpled the Fiberglas.
If I have to redo the transom, then I can use any drive I want. I like the Original V6 Buick idea though. I could mate it to a Merc out drive. I need to ponder and research power options.

GM had a v 6 back in the early 60's. i had a 63 gmc 4x4 with a v6 it was hughe compared to todays v-6... How about a nothstar v-8 !!!! the aluminum would offset the weight of it being a v-8 !!!! :-o... should match up to chevy v-6 bolt pattern.... or you could go to a turbo charged 4 cylinder... still get HP and even less weight... or i have always wanted to use the new chevy inline 6 with a turbo on a gofast to replace the v 8's.... ( although i'm not sure why ???? )

yep, looks like a buick, OMC used the buick v6 through the 70s and into the early 80s, I have a customer with a 1978 searay 30' that has twin buick v6's , Id drop a 4.3lx merc with an gen2 alpha drive , they can be picked up rather reasonable in the used market.

Thanks guys for the ID looks like you've got lots of options out there ! Exhaust manifolds availability might be a problem with at least some of the motors thrown out there

definately for my goofy idea... the best recomendation was the mercruser and bravo... Finacialy and parts wise... i would look for a fuel injected motor though..

Hey James I would like to hook up some time and come and see this "Little Beast"... next to the 21 I think that this is the coolest of "Seacrafts".

Living near Boca Grande, so the ride would not be that far and we could trade some stories.

Let me know,

Would be glad to have you come down for a visit. The hanger we use is in north Fort Myers adjacent to 41. It's in the Pine Shadows private air strip. We are there when we have time, on Fridays, sat, and Sun. Let me know when you want to come down and well get together.

Cool...I know exactly where that is. I looked at a motorcycle down there one time and was impressed with the man caves behind each house.

I tried to convince my wife to sell the island house and buy something in there :D

Obviously I'm still on the island so we know who won that battle.

If you would please PM me with your phone number and lets hook up.

I can't believe theres a Scampi less than a mile from my house. Good find. I figured if there was one around here, it would be on Pine Island.
