Blasted the inside of the 19 and bottom of the 23. Got lucky, no barrier coat on the 23 but it was pretty thick in some places.
Flipped the 19 over to get the bottom sanded and ready for primer.
With the bottom paint off it lets the good looks of these hulls shine!!!!!
Also forgot how good these hulls look upside down.

When you paint the hull, if you paint the vertical steps a contrasting color, it really highlights the unique variable deadrise hull! Got the idea from Moesly, who did that on SI-VAD, a race boat that was his first VDH prototype! http://www.moeslyseacraft.com/history.html

parrott 10-16-2013 11:19 PM

I like the way u painted the steps. Remember seeing that when I did my first 23' back n 2006 and said I will take the time on one seacraft one day and do that.
It looks really cool on the old 21's. I think 3rdday??? did it to his

Couple more after first round of sanding. Last one is my favorite

Islandtrader 10-17-2013 07:36 AM

I think I said this before, but I wish I could of flipped the 21...it would of saved me a year in build time...LOL

parrott 10-17-2013 08:16 AM

Yeah the last two Seacrafts I redid I also blasted the bottoms and then had to lay on the ground and sand that way. That was hard on the arms. Sand after blasting, then fair the bottom, sand again, fill any last small holes, sand again, prime (on ur back), sand, then paint (on ur back). This next 23' looks like I will b on my back sanding. Just depends on how deep we get into the rebuild. Would be nice to flip this next 23' tho

I want ur boat when u sell it. Looks awesome. It has style and class

You mean like this?! http://s188.photobucket.com/user/dkb...1051d.pbw.html

parrott 10-19-2013 02:49 AM

Exactly. Was think n of taking a creeper and putting some oversized tires on it so it will roll on this gravel. Just been putting down old carpet before

wattaway2 10-19-2013 08:33 AM

Not sure about the oversized wheels might try putting down some plywood down and roll on it . Drilling a couple holes and putting rope thru them for handles will make it easier to relocate the plywood when needed

flyingfrizzle 10-21-2013 03:57 PM

Donnie, boat is coming along nicely. I will try to get with you in the next couple of days to get that trailer. Thanks again

Sanded the bottom, groundout some of the deep scratches. Pulled 202 and sanding tonight.
Probably spray high build tomorrow. Hull is in real good condition.

Sprayed 2 gallons of high build today.
Can't help but get excited seeing this take shape. Gets prettier every time we do something to it.

kmoose 10-25-2013 05:54 PM

Having one upsidedown like that sure has to have one think about building a mold. I get sick thinking these hulls will slowly disapear forever. It also has me thinking on modifications that could enhance the design as well. Steps, venting, notched transom.... Just thoughts.

NoBones 10-25-2013 08:20 PM

That 545 High build is like spraying a can full of lead....

Keep it coming.. ;)

I've been thinking along those lines as well... A bottom design this special will be around forever in some form or another.

Cap off and stringers grounded down ready for the new stringers to be glassed in tomorrow. Hardest part was removing the rivets. Dang pain

Glassing in the stringer raising.

Seacraft84 11-07-2013 09:46 PM

5 Attachment(s)
Stringer extensions glassed in. Getting tank ready to install.
Did some shaping on the port gunnel. Didn't get too crazy with the cut. Only about 1 1/2" at the transom to a gradual slope to the shear.

Seacraft84 11-08-2013 07:38 PM

Got the front and rear bulkheads cut and fit. Cut and fit the floor. Left the bulkheads high to put about 3 inches of crown them.

Seacraft84 11-09-2013 07:49 PM

3 Attachment(s)
Cut down bulklheads. Front and rear decks cut to fit.
Getting the tank bed prepped for tank installation.

parrott 11-11-2013 05:48 AM

More progress. Gas tank glued in. Hot coated bottom of decks and floor w 2 coats. Both bulkheads glassed in. Glassed in some wood around front and back deck to screw to and some along sides of boat to screw floor to. Grinded down the bilge, under front deck and old coffin for gas tank so I can roll paint on them in the morning.

Front bulkhead hatch cut.Scupper tubes installed. Gunnels laid out and cut to fit.
That's my son working inside the bow. Plenty of room in there.

Bryan A. 11-15-2013 11:29 AM

Looking Sweet!!!

I like the front deck.

parrott 11-17-2013 07:28 PM

Thxs

Laid out and cut the bilge access, baitwell lid, and side storage box hatches.
Was a little worried about access to the bilge but plenty of room to get down inside.

curapa 11-19-2013 12:46 AM

Looking good. How are the deck drains going to be finished? It looks like it's PVC, will they just be glassed in to place?

parrott 11-19-2013 03:24 AM

Thxs. Thickened epoxy thru the bulkhead and transom areas then prolly a strip of glass or two under the deck.

parrott 11-19-2013 03:28 AM

2 Attachment(s)
Front deck glassed.

parrott 11-20-2013 12:57 AM

4 Attachment(s)
Glassed some pieces for the gunnels to fasten to.
Gonna end up keeping the rear two storage compartments simple. Was gonna do the whole mold for some boxes to be glassed to bottom of deck and all, but now we decided to put a floor in straight across the stringers and glass 1/2" plywood vertically to close the box in and also help support the back deck. The port side will get about 2" of foam glued inside the box then glassed over to make a good size cooler/fishbox. The compartments measure 39"L x 24"W x 23"H. Plus it will give us easy access to the thru hulls for bilge pumps, trim tab hoses, and the scupper tubes.

curapa 11-20-2013 11:40 AM

It appears to be CSM (1.5oz?) on the front deck. Will there be any additional biaxial or cloth in the deck layups or is the CSM good to go?

parrott 11-20-2013 01:06 PM

One layer of 1708 and one layer of 1.5oz mat. The mat gives u something to sand instead of sanding ur biaxial. Shes tight and not going anywhere at all..... Both layers of glass wrap around the outside edge and bulkhead edge. Outside edge basically made a lip like the cap would do.

McGillicuddy 11-20-2013 01:35 PM

Your work rate is amazing. Glad your son let you outta the stern locker. Looking like a very unique rig. Considerably different than the 20 rod holder low-rider on the first page, no? Can you snap a shot of the whole rig to give us a proportional perspective? Good stuff. Carry on...

parrott 11-20-2013 08:06 PM

Thxs. Bout to go sand the floor so we can glass it tomorrow. I will get a whole pic n a few.

Seacraft84 11-20-2013 08:59 PM

Cut and fit 2" foam in the port rear deck hatch for cooler/fishbox.
Played around with some cardboard, shaping the console.
