Others might have different opinions but I think replacing the complete transome is a better idea. If it was a i/o where there wasn't the stress of the motor hanging on it ok but there is is a lot of stress with a o/b

Change of mind. Decided to replace whole transom. I took out all the old wood and started cutting out new wood.
