Marsha was madder than a Wet Hen on Friday when she accidentally erased all the waypoints on the plotter. I don't know what she did, but she mashed the wrong buttons - twice and it "cleared" everything out. It was like the sodium phosphate before a colonoscopy!
You ever been around someone who was mad enough for two? It's like "Here, you got the wheel, I'm good rid'in shotgun today". Man, she had the market cornered on "MAD" Friday.
A couple of Pinot Grigios at the "Dry Dock" just north of New Pass, in Sarasota, helped her "move on" that afternoon.
I'm not sure if this discussion should be under "Gatherings", but there is no "Navigating Life" Heading on the CSC Site and Danny is usually tied up tryng to figure out what the Stock Market is doing next.

It takes a lot to make the ball drop but I am married to a Puerto Rican woman.... :D

Hope you had all that stuff backed up on paper.

Not fun! Alcohol and Sarasota mix well together. Looks like we need a new section...

Hello

1 Attachment(s)
I was out of town last year and am looking forward to meeting you guys, I hope. Anyway, I noticed that someone had asked about staying on their boat. The city's twin docks located just north of the lodge are a little strange. They have slips for boats. I kept mine there one day when I was working on the trailer. I think the city was going to put a ramp in the center , but could not get approval for a channel. Great planning. I had to ease in with motor tilted up when I docked there. There is a sign there that says no overnight docking, but I am told that they don't enforce the sign.
I went to some of the spoil islands today, since I had not been down that way in a long time(usually head straight to the inlet). This picture is looking back toward the Sportsmans lodge.

Groups "adopt" islands by cleaning them. Apparently the sail and power squadron had a meet at the lodge. I checked the web page for indian river aquatic preserve and apparently it is a first come first serve kind of thing to occupy the islands. I thought I would put this out there, its a nice island, Ron.

Seacraft Island

Bumpdraft, Very Cool option for those non-committal CSC members who like to sleep on picnic tables and in elevator shafts and those with Safaris -

SeaCraft Island -

Easily within VFR range, for Ken's Blackened Grouper with Sandy's Papaya Sauce and Don's Apple Pie Elixer, even when it's real drunk out.
Party on, Dudes!

cdavisdb 01-16-2015 08:54 AM

Looks good to my 25 Seafari.

note the spelling.

Long Point Mauraders

Dang, I was checkin my calander to see when I needed to get my oil changed on the F- 250, when my A/C filters need replacing and if I need to replace the batteries in my smoke detectors (yea right). I did notice that the Long Point Gathering was a mere 67 days out. The Sportsman's Lodge is slap full of us but there is stiil camp sites available at Long Point and the Spoil Islands in the ICW can take a few more "Gunk Holers". So if yer still shovelin' snow up in Marblehead and need to bring you core body tempearture up to something above "cryogenic", show yur dang azz up down there and be ready for the best seafood this side of N'orleans at Mel's Diner. Short order cook Ken can burn that grouper just right. Sandy the Saucemeister will sprinkle a dollop on top and Don V. has the elixer that will "set you right" Heck, I'd be worth just going out an buyin a 'ol SeaCraft just to be qualified to sit at the table! Shake off the frostbite and come on down - ya, bunch of knuckleheads! Ask Jimbo if it was worth thre trip down to Cabbage.

That would be a big 10-4!! Y'all come...

DonV 03-03-2015 06:22 PM

Jim, I'm holding a mason jar with apple pie just for you!! :)

Now let's work on the weather Gods!! I would really like to go out and catch some feeeesh or at a minimum take the boat off the trailer!

Snookerd 03-04-2015 01:16 PM

I'm putting new aftermarket rotors on the Nissan Armada to get ready for the trip. I hate replacing trailer brakes, and the price of my front rotors is half the cost! it looks like the sceptre will see some water on Saturday. Got to get on that dive certification so that Marsha errr :DTerry can show me the ropes on spearing here the Gulf! it's going to be a great time in Sebastian this year. No more rain! the motel looks great Ken.

77SceptreOB 03-04-2015 03:55 PM

Any idea of the average water temp near Long Point in early May? i.e. SCUBA wetsuit?

gofastsandman 03-04-2015 07:39 PM

Water temp 75 here today.

Terry England 03-04-2015 10:55 PM

75!

Sandy, It's same as as in "Dog Years", a water temp of 75 is like 28 degrees F to us Crackers!!!! Conner would need a dry suit for 75 degrees and Kenny and I'd need a 1/4" wet suit just because we have more blubber.
Fish'in on life support - want a country!

May fish with Lil Deeper soon.
Dive n shoot.
Guess I need a gun first...

bumpdraft 03-05-2015 08:54 AM

Conditions at inlet? http://www.sebastianinletcam.com/

cdavisdb 03-08-2015 03:47 PM

Now Terry, lets not exaggerate. I'd sure "like" a dry suit in 75 degrees, but got by just fine Friday(75 degrees) with a 3 mil Elios (which approaches a dry suit for warmth).

Did not go in, but your place looked real good and we sure appreciated the dock. Thanks!

Connor

kmoose 03-09-2015 01:42 PM

Last year I dove in 150' and less with no wetsuit but like Terry says, I have a little more insulation than most. The visibility will be the limiting factor as it was completely fine for spearfishing with tanks but the thermoclines kept it to around 20' max. I will say though that if you find a decent spot the gags start at 15 lbs. and go up from there.

More than anything I am excited to get out and troll. Mel and I had a great time catching dolphin and wahoo with just basic trolling gear. If the weather is suitable we should consider a friendly SC tourney just to make it interesting.

"The Cove" trophy.

kmoose 03-11-2015 08:26 PM

I'm in but my money is on Marsha or Mel....

NoBones 03-12-2015 08:07 PM

FYI...

"NO VACANCY" at the Sportsman's Lodge or Captian Hiram's next door...
For that weekend in May.

Roll call. Who has reservations at the Sportsman Lodge?

1) Me.

FLexpat 03-12-2015 10:03 PM

Me too, but my Sceptre is still a LONG way from being in the water.
And I'm going for longest distance traveled unless Gillie or some of the Pacific brethren make an appearance and take the prize.

"No" reservation at the Sportsman Lodge..
Patti & I are at the Ferndale Lodge More rustic and laid back, just a little south of the "Sportsman"

They still have rooms, just in case someone else needs one!

DonV 03-13-2015 08:49 AM

We're at the Sportsman Lodge. Good info Ken on the Ferndale.

Terry England 03-13-2015 12:55 PM

Ken, Ease up on the "PIANO" sales imeadieatly! You messed us up last November with that "spike" in sales and we had to amble along without proper supervision. Plus Patti never got to try one of those Cabbage Key Creepers and Area 442 was not officially represented. We need a tower to watch for the enemy too. "What's a-matter you?", as they say in New Joy-sey.

Snookerd 03-13-2015 05:44 PM

Is No Bones at the slacker hotel? 442 better get their act together!:D

Did someone say Slacker?

kmoose 03-13-2015 08:49 PM

Mel and I have the efficiency suite on the water. There will be full coffee service and nightly fresh catch of the day specials for those who can stomach them....

PigSticker 03-14-2015 09:17 AM

I checked Capt Hirams and web shows plenty available

Snookerd 03-14-2015 10:02 PM

We stayed there 1 night.

Yes, and the next night in a "Coleman" 10 X 12 life raft at Long Point. Earned your "Hurricane" Merit Badge.

NoBones 03-18-2015 09:33 PM

bunch of wussies the rest of us toughed it out

DonV 03-19-2015 06:17 PM

Yeah Terry, if I remember right Danny's family was using one of those tents that held the rain inside versus keeping it on the outside. Not sure where he got it, maybe Goodwill.

There will be no wussie issues this year, I'm roughing it in a warm dry bed with a bathroom way less than a 1/4 mile away.

Don't think Jen and the squids will ever enter a tent again. Not a good idea to pitch your tent in the delta. Danny had the ditch witch running before sunrise.

Jen: Hey Sluggo I think the bilge pump killed the batteries.
Get your ass up and turn on the crash valves.

Sluggo: Yes Dear.

Jen: The squids are drowning.
The scuppers are too low.
Raise the deck and get a bay mfg extension kit Sluggo.

Sluggo: Yes Dear.

Jen: Get a very small spoon and dig me a new cut Sluggo.

Sluggo:
Yes Dear.

Melissa's idea of camping is staying at a hotel without an elevator to take her down to the Starbucks in the lobby. I thought I was going to have to rent a barge to haul the required essentials out to Cabbage Key on the last outing.

Islandtrader 03-23-2015 08:35 AM

Room Available

Sharon and I were really looking forward to Long Point this year...

However life gets in the way...we have to travel to Seattle for the entire month of May to take care of a family member that will be going through some real tuff radiation and chemo for 6 weeks.

I will cancel the room on the 31st. If some one needs it let me know and we can make the switch to your name.
