That's what I found with my '89 Tracker as well lots of space between the top of the stringers and the underside of the deck. Looks like a job for some Potter Putty:D

Thinking about a tad bit of weight to bring her down as well.
Not so much to cause spider cracks.
Just a kiss.

I`ve already started at the front of the deck with 1/8" and following along.
Should make her more of a piece.

I had an idea this morning.
I thought it might be a bit messy and wasteful filling caulking tubes.

So I thought pastry bag.

Fat and wide for volume of product.

Easily turned and spun in any direction.

I have some experience with them and they are easy to modulate.
My right hand squeezing the top of the bag controlling the flow.
My left hand pointing and shooting.
A flattened tip gets into real skinny areas.

The bags also work well and are certainly much easier to load. Have fun!

I`m an old pastry bag.

So I have all of the tabbing cut from the coffin bottom, except the corners.
Is the plywood bonded to the stringers on the sides underneath?
Guess I`ll find out later today.
Thanks for the discussion!
I really appreciate it.

On my boat it looks like they just threw a piece of half inch ply in there and tabbed it to the stringers on the sides. There was no glass underneath or even putty that they could have set it in and only one coat of resin on the top surface of the plywood. My new tank slats will probably be Nidacore or something similar very lightweight.

The faster I was indeed.
Shoulder complaint here.
Get in line please.

Tell me about it! I'm to the point where I'm afraid to get down in the bilge I might not get out:(

FLexpat 05-15-2016 09:04 PM

I know they changed stuff on the Trackers but on my '76 23 it was just a sheet of 3/4 ply with a single layer of 22oz roving slapped on top - no resin or glass on the back side and no putty to bed it. When I pulled it the wood was heavy and rotten. I was able to just rip the glass out - very poorly bonded to the stringers - I only had to use the grinder for about 5 minutes to clean it up afterwards. Way easier to get out than I expected (good and bad). I replaced it with 3/4 Coosa and even with glass on both sides the new one weighed about 20 lbs less.

Smelly 3/4 ply w some resin on top. Missing in many spots.

Tried to save it but that made no sense.

Got some bilge coat paint.
Might as well.

My Slacker was made in November which is perfect Sarasota weather for glassing with cool temps, low humidity, and the work is surprisingly good, but they tabbed the coffin to the stringers with woven as well. No glass on the ply other than that, just resin... no glass or resin under deck either.

My boat sits right down when I fill my above deck live well under my arse.
She likes weight which is contrary to many thoughts from the sixties and light, right motahs.

Thanks for all the thoughts and personal experience.
Cheers,
GFS
