Nobody likes a hippie until your bug breaks down. And they float for a short period of time.
Your gaskets may vary.

Just picking up here. Power just flickered.

PigSticker 10-06-2016 07:49 PM

Power back on.
Yard full of crap.

Trees seem ok.

Feral mommy cat missing...

bumpdraft 10-07-2016 08:21 AM

Don't I feel crazy for leaving(not really). Just talked to neighbor and they still have power on our block, house and boat good. I'm sitting over here in St. Cloud with no power.

DonV 10-07-2016 08:51 AM

Well Ken, looks like the eye moved to the east from the original predictions so good for you guys. Hey, take any victory you can get!!! Good luck!

Cutiger 10-07-2016 11:10 AM

Fiancé still panicking as of this morning about me staying at the house by myself. So I'm going to go to Aiken, much against my will. Bring our dog back with me Sunday morning. Hopefully our house won't get looted while I'm gone.

Olds school, let me know if there's anything you need me to bring back from the midlands. Ammo, gas, ice, generator, whatever. 843-697-0411

TPG 10-07-2016 12:02 PM

Good amount of weakening has gone on the past 24 hours. Looking better every model pass!

Vezo, Part II 10-07-2016 01:14 PM

Bro, you need to get off James Island asap. Trying to get my ex to leave W. Ashley and meet another firefighters wife in Aiken. Don't even offer to help her. Been trying since Monday!?! Argh. Be safe!

Thanks man! I have a very large quantity of those things. That said; there's never enough ammo! If you can't get back in a timely manner and want me to ride by if I can let me know. IM inbound with phone #

Reporting from the Florida keys ... We're good here. Not much wind, just some rain.
Wishing everyone up the coast, all the way to the Carolinas to be safe ...

Glad I moved the boat before we left. Trees down all over neighborhood. I can't believe we have power, but I'll take it. Really dodged a bullet here, thanks for the concerns. You guys up there in Ga and SC take care.

TomParis 10-07-2016 05:22 PM

No Bones hopefully you and they can get it cleared in the next day so you can at least drive out of your neighborhood! Glad everything else is ok.

Tito`s and tonic here tonight. Very thankful.
Far cry from ghosts of `Canes past.

St Augustine is under water now.

Mind your elevation and tide please.

Lotta rain with this one.

Bones, please watch those downed lines.
I know you can be impetuous.
You don`t look good in blue.

Lotta water there.

Mad Matt

Man that thing ran up the right coast of Florida like an 8" angle grinder with 80 grit paper. We wore it down a little but you Georgia and South Carolina guys are in for 12 hours of a "dusting off". Think about easing to a little higher elevation real estate.
Still waiting for Jorge, Tiny, Ryan, Skiblet, PigSticker, Pelican and a couple of others to check in. Heard from Capt Lloyd, Bushwacker, Bumpdraft, GFS, Carla and RickG and NoBones. Hopefully everyone's OK with just chit to clean up.
Ken, Does Area 442 need a Vodka drone air drop yet?
Take care everyone and be safe with down power lines.

FLexpat 10-07-2016 09:59 PM

Dropped into Palatka to watch it go by. Power went out about 7am. Yard is a giant mess but the boats are fine. Just enough minor damage to show what needs to be beefed up. Dock seems ok even though the boards are barely awash - every other dock in sight is either damaged or destroyed though. Fortunately the surge got here after most of the waves started going away from our side of the river. Gen is purring along as we wait for line power to come back.

Cutiger 10-07-2016 10:42 PM

I'm in Aiken. Have security cameras at the house and power is still on. Raining but doesn't look bad at our house on JI yet. This is security camera video, if it'll upload.

Fiancé sent me this picture. This is Ashley Ave downtown, taken from the MUSC pedestrian walkway over Ashley Ave.

Made it through ok. No power or water. Minor damage. Seacraft is fine. Just a few scratches from wind blow debris.

Cutiger 10-08-2016 05:30 AM

just lost power at our house on JI. Either that or Internet. Security cameras just went offline.

Fiancé sent me another picture from MUSC

Back home in Satellite Beach. No damage to my house and the boats are fine. Just a messy yard.

Everyone stay safe during the clean up.

Bones had to raise hell to get the county out to cut the
roads clear of trees.

He and Patti say hello from 442

He wanted to text a pic of him holding a line whilst on the phone
with county...

Old'sCool 10-11-2016 04:19 AM

We survived and boats, camper, truck, car. Dad lost his car in Palm Coast. Mom now homeless West Ashley due to flooding.

Snookerd 10-11-2016 11:38 AM

Glad to hear how the brethren have faired(nice pictures)......Matthew was quite the storm. On my way back from Yale I stayed in Dunn, NC yesterday. Drove 401 and 501 to get to I95 at South of the Border, SC.(I95 was closed from Dunn to the SC line). NC and SC has been killed with water AND trees. Cape Fear basin area was getting crazy with rising water yesterday! I must have seen 300 power trucks leaving FL and heading to the area. My brother lives on Wilmington Island, next to Tybee. He did not get flooded out there, but trees everywhere.

Getting crazy…

Capt Chuck 10-11-2016 01:53 PM

We dodged a bullet here in Stuart as the storm stayed offshore approx 60 miles. It's path had us nervous for awhile. Lost power for 4 days. Good thing my generator kept a beat! mostly tree debris.
The seas are still confused today.

Knowing the speed at which the city works around here, this could be a while.
Both ramps messed up.
I don't know if it was the prayers, the high pressure, or the Fujiwharaing with Nicole, but we along the east coast of Florida pretty much dodged the big one.

uncleboo 10-12-2016 12:43 PM

I faired well myself, but there was a lot of flooding around here. Had a few roads wash out and several homes flooded. Edenton has a main street running right through the middle of town and at one spot where it is about 16' above sea level, there was 3 feet of water standing during the storm. Seen water in places I've never seen in my 55 years.

pelican 10-12-2016 06:08 PM

Interesting...
Did you have law enforcement credentials to access the beachside ?
All bridges to the peninsula were closed both ways to even residents
of the beachside at 6:00 PM Thursday..

Access was not granted to anyone until late Saturday afternoon !

I still have no land line or internet at Area 442.. Power was restored
at 8:45 PM last night.. That was a challenge in it's self.
We were land locked until Sunday afternoon before the county cleared the road where my road comes out !
House Generator (LP) consumed 500 lbs.
Gas generator running the shop used 40 gallons. Had to keep freezer, beverages and ice maker good... ;)

Will take a month to clean my patch of land up :(

Look close you will see a John Deere 9500 busting its way through
a 30 foot wall of downed trees !! Free at last..:D

Attachment 13469

Had to post from my office... time to go home and treat poison Ivy all over !

Good to hear Boo!

We are about 18 ft ASL here which is high for the area.
28 ft one block west on High St.

We had water in the yard for Frances, Jeanne, and Wilma.
Wilma got us a new roof. Thanks Wilma you bitch.
Got tarped out PDQ and lost little, but some blood.

The neighborhood had tractor trailer size debris piles in front of every house
after clean up.

To understand just how lucky we are, watch footage of Haiti and the Bahamas.
That is what a `Cane can do.

Bermuda is about to get whacked.

every bridge was open - nothing was closed down, either way on Friday morning.
I actually was watching the hood on the jeep vibrate from the wind.

I passed a jeep Cherokee, with a weather chaser wrap on it,that was on riverside dr

seen quite a few jeeps over beach side - seen weather channel people outside the Hilton

I didn't see the bridges closed until Saturday - I went to cross the dunlawton bridge, port orange pd had it shut down - when I came back,i checked sea breeze, international speedway and main street - all were closed

my internet/tv came back yesterday

have a bunch of good pictures I took on Friday - including the ocean breaking on atlantic ave@granada ave

traffic lights, completley torn off and hanging horizontal,in the gusts
