Quick morning post before I head out the door. My day job has been busy for the past few weeks so I have been working on the boat mostly at night. Lisa says she is a "boat widow" right now. My response was I'm almost done just hang in there a little longer.....plus Im taking her and the dog to the beach on Sunday :) Gotta give a little once in a while.

Curious, what is the backing on the teak dash boards. Is that phenolic or other resin board and what is its purpose. Spacer and fit alignment?

Did you cut the elongated slot on the motor mount to simplify height adjustment or do they come that way:cool:.

The backing is oak veneer panel board. For the glove box and gage panel I ripped some 2x2 teak into 1/4" strips and they are glued to the backing with west systems epoxy. The steering pod is two pieces of teak glued glued the same way. I was able to use scrap teak (over 30 years old) that I have been saving for such a project.

Sorry I was half asleep last night. Scrap and teak should not be used in the same sentence. Yes it it oak veneer I believe 3/16" or 1/4" I will take a look. It was laying in my scrap pile. The two smaller dash panels have 4 pieces of 1/4" teak glued to the surface of the oak veneer.

The motor has the slots already built into the mounting bracket. There is one more hole below the slot as well. I will take a close up pic and post it.

Dave- do up a kitchen thred and post it for us :) I dont know when it will be ready....maybe in another month? or sooner? I'm just taking it nice and slow now as I don't want to screw up the rigging. I'm not very mechanical inclined and it intimidates me. :)

What type of sealer or varnish did you use on the teak?

Fred it's the same stuff that I used on the 25 called Cetol. Three coats sanding in between.
