Re: Dania Beach Flea Market

In order to further promote "the cause", I will volunteer to hold the 2nd annual Seacraft.com Dania FleaMarket fishing tournament and act as the committee boat. Last year's innaugural event was won by Trayder, catching a keeper flag yellowtail (which I personally consumed the next night). All the boats entered into last year's event have specified the following rules/regs;

Weather permitting, the "tournament" will occur on Friday afternoon of the flea market, and the entry fee is one 12 pack of the beverage of your choice. Bringing your own boat is optional, however the entry fee must still be placed aboard the committee boat. I will provide the boat and gear for any interested parties, up to 10. Lines in at 2:00 pm, lines out at 5:30 pm, when we will go into "Swordfish Mode". Scoring will be kept "per angler". Releases must be photographed, keepers will be weighed. 1 point per # for any species kept for eating (not including swordfish which count double), 100pts for billfish release (including swordfish released). 1/4 pt for releases of grunts, y-tail, reef fish etc. Any fish caught aboard the committee boat after lines out will be credited to the angler's total score. committee boat will be available for boarding at 1:00 pm, and again at 5:45 pm (for the post tournament swordfishing trip). Vhf channell 69 will be used for all tournament traffic....

I will hold off on the interior renovations until after this event....

FYI - the committee boat is the Bertram 46, not the whitewater....

other tom,
I'll be part of the New England contingent this year and looking forward to it! Very nice of you to offer up the Bert, we'll try not to get her too messy . I don't blame you for not finishing the interior .

So from New England, who's in besides Trayder and I?

Count me in.....

Had a blast last year on Tom's whitewater. Knowing Tom's craftmanship, I am looking forward to seeing the Bertie's new exterior.

Last year was great fun, I look forward to bigger and better....more the merrier, we should have plenty of room. Now that I've read about the beer-resin ratio for Seacraft restoration, I can fully comprehend the beer-fish ratio we hit last year.

Trayder has some "before" pics, the Bert is getting stripped right now and should be in primer by X-mas. Unfortunately, the gear and hardware outgrows whats available at the Flea Market - not a lot of booths hawking 44' Rupp triple spreader outriggers and 60" open aray Furunos. Right now we have 2 engines with less than 20 hrs, 1 new genny with 45 hours, new running gear. new watermaker, new batteries, 3 new a/c's, all new water/bilge pumps, new icemaker, bait prepstation, and new vacuflush heads. Every upgrade was done to each DD 871TI, so propulsion should be good for the long haul.....I'll post some progress pics this week.

Yeah, I'll get to that. Just got back from a little look-see over at GlassTech here in Miami - they can suck the $$$$'s out of your wallet pretty fast, but their work sure is beautiful.

For the flea market tourney I'll be sure to have the bridge reefer installed and chilled down.
