Re: Finally Started on 23 Inboard

I made up the dash for the console. It will attach inside the visor area and will actually be cut into two pieces divided at the center post and attached with cap screws so each side can flip out for wiring access. It really sucks trying to get up in there from the front or underneath the console with the engine in the way (like working under the dash of a car or getting a root canal).

I wish I had time to do more of the project myself but at least I can use a little of what I have learned on this site.

Here's the latest. Will be less than 2 weeks now. The remaining prep will be done today and painting will start next week.

Overview.

This is a shot showing the deck extended to the transom on both sides. I wasn't sure how it was going to work out but it looks like it will solve two things I didn't like. The scuppers are now direct through the transom, there are no tubes or fittings and they are bigger and alomost 2" higher. Equally important, it provides much needed toe space at the transom corners.

I took the console home to my shop to complete. Next steps, T-Top then power and rigging.

By the way, thanks for the comment bayouboy. I really wanted to try something not done before. Hopefully this has some real benefit.

Lookin Good!!!!

The corners look good to.
FWIW Parker does there drains the same way and it works good. The only difference is it drops down off the deck about an inch into a little depression before it goes out the transom.

Color looks awesome. Nice Job can't wait to see it finished.

That boat looks great. Those scuppers give you four less connections to go bad.
Are you going to put any non-skid on the cap-if I didn't have it up there I probably would have taken a few dives by now. It looks might shiny and slick.

Re: Finally Started on 23 Inboard

Thanks for the encouragement guys.

I hear ya with the non-skid. I'm not a big fan looks wise, but for safety I planned on putting it in two locations on each side - between the rod holders near the transom for boarding/unboarding and along side the console/T-top as I stand there for acces to the top and outriggers. I'm leaving it off the bow for now.

What do you guys think about color for the console dash?

The rubrail will be black w/ SS insert and black for the boot and graphics.

I was thinking the dash might look good in light blue to match the hull (guages are black). Also looked nice in the Duratec gray (in picture above) or maybe flat black. Or should I just stick with white to match the console?

Need some opinions

oops, I never posted a picture of the primed dash panel. You got to use your imagination on the white console part for now.
