Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
ok i got the image from peterb (thanks again) i am going to put a new thread with a poll and it will be open until february 9. On that day i will take a final count. it will be for the color shirt (white or blue), with pocket or no, and the phrase on the shirt. After you answer the poll please PM me with the amount and sizes that you want. PLEASE let me know if you would like long sleeve or not when you PM. then i will go to the screen printer and come back with a cost for the shirts. thanks for your cooperation.

I have stayed out of conversation on this one due to not knowing my schedule for this trip. I usually go down to the keys in June I have only mist one year in over 20 years. If I am able to go I will make arrangements at the last and go for it. I just got a new job started 3 weeks ago and still on the employee bubble. If I miss the window catch m up.

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering

|
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering

sorry for all the questions - I have had 2 surgeries for skin cancer on my face and have hardly been out of the house in 4 weeks so I'm really pumped and have way too much time on my hands :D Also if anyone has to hold bandages on with the white tape they give you it sucks - been fighting it constantly - DUCT TAPE works much better, just an FYI Although lots of mortgage business both on refi's and Modifications but still bored since I haven't been in the boat but once. |

Dog, Snappers restauraunt is 139 seaside Av and we are 129 seaside av. I have not seen any pin fish in our little shelter area, and as far as mullet, again none, we do have blue crab, a barricuda, some parrot fish, and small minnows if you will. But a great protected area. I am looking forward to this gathering and seeing you good friends.

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
I've been a real slacker and never booked my room. I called Breezy Palms and got a 2 br bungalo with a kitchen and sitting room for 139/nt + 20 bucks a day for boat slip. They have grills, beach area and a great pool. Mile marker 90. I'll be staying 4/2-4/6 for now but I may extend.
They do have rooms left between $99 and $169 per night. www.breezypalms.com. Can't wait to fish the hump. |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Is there a Saturday rendezvous point? Im really hoping to make it but am not sure yet. If I can, Ill be running the boat down on Saturday, hopefully morning but it may be afternoon. Is there any sort of cookout/lunch/dinner planned for Saturday? Are we using 65Bowriders place as the central gathering?
Hope to make it and meet some of you guys. I think its always cool to see a fleet of the same boats at the same spot. |

what happened to all the yellow? must be to fast to see :D
|
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
If everyone is agreeable, we can use our place as the central gathering point. Suggestions would be:
Friday night have a potluck dinner, bring your own item to BBQ & a side dish. Saturday, HOPEFULLY, have a fish BBQ. Snappers has Happy Hour from 4-7 Mon-Friday and live music almost every night. ESD - if you can bring your firepit, there's good place to put it for a bonfire. We have one charcoal grill & one gas grill. If everyone is up to donating a buck or two, I'll pick up the charcoal, paper plates, plastic forks, knives, spoons, cups and anything else so not everyone has to tote everything down. Open for suggestions. |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
65bowrider-That sounds great. Should be ideal for our location.
|
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Will bring fire pit and great idea on the odds and ends - I kinda agree on Sat - if each boat can't catch 2 or 3 YT's or Mango snapper we should have to sell these SeaCrafts
I should have some pretty good numbers and will get the low down on where to buy chum - we should be able to get a discount on a case if all buy it together |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
i can bring my magma boat grill and camping grill if need be. ill donate a few bucks to have all the plates and things there already.
|
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
I can bring another grill with charcoal, gas fish frier with pan and oil, all the paper plates, paper towels that is needed. I also have 20 pounds or so of dolphin filets from last year that would make nice fried nuggets. Let me know, I'll bring it up either Friday or Saturday.
|
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
mmmmm fried fish nuggets..... :)

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
For Chum, I buy 1 Gal Menhaden oil, Chicken feed, and mix with bread and saltwater. Very cheap. I get the bread for about $3 from the day old breadstores, chicen feed from teactor supply, menhaden oil from boatersworld. they YTS love it. I scoop this out heavy at first and use it sporadically to cloud the water, they get really stupid when you do this.

I can make a hotel pan of my grilled marinated veggie terrine and pomme {potato} gratin for sides. I`m used to cooking in volume, so I`ll bring many big sharp knives. Anybody like Gravlax for breakfast? I make some killer cured salmon. Picnic utensils are the way to go Carla.
Hopefully, I can bring some fish down too. Somehow I don`t think "enough" food is going to be an issue. Carla , where are you registered for house warming gifts? GFS |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Not sure about Carla but Skip's probably registered at Home Depot :D

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering

|
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
During the Middle Ages, gravlax was made by fishermen, who salted the salmon and lightly fermented it by burying it in the sand above the high-tide line. The word gravlax comes from the Scandinavian word grav, which means literally "grave" or "hole in the ground" (in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Estonian), and lax (or laks), which means "salmon", thus gravlax is "salmon dug into the ground".

I was at a gun show yesterday in Crystal River. One vendor came with 3 cases (36 boxes of JHP w/50 rds ea.) of russian .45 ACP ammo, and at sold out in less than an hour. I didn't buy any, but the price was only $20 a box.
I sure wish I could get free to go to the keys. :( |
