Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
I know you're tired of the same comment, but, AWESOME! Love the T-top. You should be wetting her hiney in a week or two, right? You'll enjoy her! Look out cobia! :D

Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
reelescape - Thanks :). Yup glass with NidaCore coring.
uncleboo - Haha never tired of any comments, why I love this site. I'm pushing hard working on her nights and all weekend to have her wet by Aug 1st. :D |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Looks amazing.

Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
You have done a really nice job on the boat. That tower is going to be the best seat in the house. Keep up the good work.
|
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Very nice!
No trim tabs? |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Still in the process of putting everything back on her, she'll have tabs.

Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Thermometer in the truck was reading 113 on the black top this weekend, and I was out working on the SeaCraft, can't just let her be 95% finished and just sit. Consumed around 5 gallons of unsweet tea and pee'd once.
Got a lot done this weekend, or at least I'm telling myself that. Going around Sunday afternoon and taking pictures of what had been completed it seems like I barely did anything, but between the breaks for the heat and running up to the hardware store 15 times per day a good deal of work gone done, and a major milestone (at least for me) got done, the rub rail. To everyone on here who installs a rub rail by themselves, you are my hero, especially a rigid vinyl one. It was like wrestling with a 300lb man after it being coiled up for 4 months. Let it sit in the sun all day, was almost too hot to pick up, but still it kicked our asses and refused to go the way it needed to go. Got it done though, and man does it tie the boat together. Couple of install and finish pics. http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5146.jpg http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5150.jpg http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5151.jpg http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5152.jpg All the screws that went anywhere near the transom got a good dip in 5200 before going in. http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5153.jpg Pull-up cleats http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5156.jpg http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5157.jpg Bow hardware mounted http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5162.jpg http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5161.jpg http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5167.jpg Antennas mounted on hardtop VHF http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5163.jpg Sirius Marine Weather/Radio http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5164.jpg Gas fill installed/plumbed/vented/grounded http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5173.jpg Reflection in the side of console :D http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5174.jpg Front speakers http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/Sea...00725-5176.jpg Teak crab chairs in the backyard watching the progress http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/SeaCraft/crab.jpg That's all I got for now, gonna find time this week to do non-skid on the deck/gunwhales, then I'll feel like I'm close. |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Looks great! I especially like the T-Top!! What brand rub rail is that?
|
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Thanks!
Its a Taco model# V21-9613, same as Strick and lonesurfer87 and a couple more people on the board I think. I paid out the ass for it (because I had to ship (4) of the 12' long stainless sections, couldn't find it local), but the look is worth it to me. FYI for anyone who gets this rail, 48' of stainless is enough, but barely, gotta get those bends tight, was sweating not having enough but had a 3/4" overlap! |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Looks absolutely killer.
How do you get the rigid vinyl to make the tight bend at the transom? |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Now that's a fishing boat
strick |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Thanks for the compliments :D
Quote:
http://www.noahbeach.com/hosting/SeaCraft/V21-9613.jpg Dremel with a cutting bit made short work of the lip. Removing this also took a lot of the rigidity out of the rail. After that it was a matter of pulling the rail around the bend while lightly heating it with a heat gun, also the occasional rubber mallet knock to keep it tight. |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Hey Sea++ just wonder why your motor was mounted so high on the bracket, or why the bracket is mounted so low, is it to help with floation?....just wondering
The boat looks great, is this your first boat you work on?..... looking at your boat makes me want to learn how to do fiberglass work and redo my 1988 20 ft seacraft. Any advise? |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Come on Sea++ you need to post some more SC20 RESTO PICS...I know its ready...whatcha waiting on?
I'll tell you the truth guys...I sold NEW SeaCrafts for a few years...you cant tell the difference between this 1974 and a 2010...unless you look REAL close... but I'll sit back and let him post it... I'm really proud of the way he did this...lots of thought, lots of sweat equity and a whole lot of $$$...he did it right... Beach AKA Dad... |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
IslandRunner - Engine is so high/bracket is low because it was installed for a 20" shaft engine. My zuke is 25" shaft so hence the highest hole on the mount/the jackplate. The alternative was to take the bracket off, fill (6) huge holes in my transom, drilling (6) new holes and moving the bracket up. Decided to try the jackplate and moving up before doing this and it worked out nicely. As far as advice, this is the first boat I've restored and I've learned a ton about it in the process, gained a lot of knowledge from my dad (Beach) and from everyone on this board, I'm easily spent twice as much time reading posts on here as I've spent work on the boat. Also like DonV said at the beginning of this post, buy sandpaper in the biggest size you can possibly find, I easily have $500 of sandpaper in this boat because I was buying it from Home Depot for a while.
She's 99.9% done, and she got wet and bloody this week (...yeah that sounds gross). Anyways, built a starboard box to flush mount my vhf and stereo to inside my ebox. Frame is made out of 1/2" starboard and face/side is 1/4". Constructing: Black starboard + zip tool = mess http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00801-5192.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00801-5193.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00801-5194.jpg Installed: http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5245.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5249.jpg Spent some time and changed my switch panel, original configuration was (2) 12 gauge wires feeding the (8) positives on the panel, I took these out and fed each one individually. http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00801-5200.jpg Went and bought the largest cutting board I could find (15" x 20"), this was bolted with nylon spacers to the inside of my console, all my electronics were mounted to this. http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00804-5203.jpg NMEA 2000 network backbone installed. http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00804-5205.jpg Battery switch and fuse box installed. http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00804-5206.jpg Every connection was made with an adhesive heat shrink connector, then adhesive heat shrink was put over that. http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00804-5207.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00804-5208.jpg Wire management around the console was done with nylon cable tie mounts, these were screwed to the board, but 5 minute epoxied (thickened with some adhesive filler) to the inside of the console. Installed them by smearing some on the back, and then taping in place till dry. http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00804-5211.jpg Looks pretty messy in this picture because the throttle/steering/suzuki wire harness is in front, but after everything is in place and tied down. http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5271.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5268.jpg Got everything installed on the dash http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5237.jpg very tall person's view of dash http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5242.jpg my view of dash http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5254.jpg Spare fuses for every fuse type on board http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5251.jpg Rear http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5246.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5264.jpg Bow (non skid lines) http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5256.jpg Looking back, tower folded, also my console seat opens forward now. http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5257.jpg Down the line http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5258.jpg Front deck light mounted on ebox (led spreader from coastalnightlights.com) http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5259.jpg Spreader light (led spreader from coastalnightlights.com) http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5260.jpg VHF getting GPS info for DSC from chartplotter http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5261.jpg Looking forward http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5262.jpg Leaning post/future home of 65qt yeti cooler http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5263.jpg Glamor shots http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5272.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5275.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00812-5278.jpg Things still to be done
Like I said, took her out on weds to run her some, not one problem with anything. Was a great day on the water, especially to have everything work just right. Only thing that could have gone better was that we never spotted the man in the brown suit. http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...eport/1-02.jpg |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Very Clean Machine...nicely done!
I bet it is a head turner every time out. |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
What an awesome job!!! Your attention to detail speaks volumes. All I can say is I'm 'SEAFOAM' with envy! I plan on towing mine up sometime. Hope we can get together so I can see her in the flesh. Enjoy her!
|
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Oops. I meant to post a 5 star rating but messed up and hit submit on only 1 star. Sorry 'bout that.
Your boat is absolutely stunning! I'm totally envious. :D Beautiful job! |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Where did you score the stainless drink holders?
Helluva nice looking rig! |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Thanks for all the kind words guys. The drink holders, thru-hulls, pull up cleats, all the hinges, and rod holders came from a local company called Prime Industries. Their website is here and their ebay page is here. Cheaper to buy from their ebay sometimes as they offer free shipping on some items. Awesome prices on high quality stainless stuff, that drink holder was $12 shipped, pull up cleats were $22, etc.

Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Pretty work! The men in the brown suits should be getting very nervous...
|
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Sea++, man the boat is looking great. thanks for the advise on the sandpaper. My boat is only a 88 so hopefully i have a few more years on my tramsom....but when its time to change it out, it will be time for a bracket with swim platform. But until then got few things i want to add like lean post, trim tabs and work on console. Also really love the color of your boat i don't think i would want to put it in the dirty water we been having down here, in Louisiana. What do you mostly fish for up there?
|
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
IslandRunner - fish for a bit of everything, including but not limited to flounder, puppy drum, bluefish, spanish macks, kings, spades, sheephead, tautog, specks, striper, varies throughout the year.
Snapped a couple pics of my lights tonight, was finally home at night at a reasonable hour. 21' of red led rope light secured under the gunwhale with more thickened epoxy glued cable tie mounts (though it looks a tad darker in the pics than it really is, the deck really glows). Then two led spreader lights from coastalnightlights.com, these really really light up the deck. http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00816-5323.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00816-5324.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00816-5325.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00816-5326.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00816-5327.jpg http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...00816-5328.jpg Also my upholstery for my tower came in, so that has a backrest on it now, was too dark for a pic of that though. Did take some screen shots of a storm that we watched and knew we could avoid while fishing the other day thanks to my satellite weather through my HDS's, saw it to the south and west of us in the distance, zoomed out, and saw this: http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...Craft/lwx1.png http://www.seaplusplusfishing.com/im...Craft/lwx2.png Kept fishing and watched it pass on the satellite radar to the south of us. :D |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Just back into the AC from a hot day of yellow tail snapper fishing, checking out the CSC site and WOW......love the red LED lights!! Real sweet SeaCraft porn!!! Ain't those ringed drink holders great?, I've got two of the double ones and the fit my "pepsi" koozies perfectly. Great work!!!

Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Sea++ where did you pick up that Starboard? Tried running a search on the internet for it but had no luck., Also why have the other lowerance that is just a fishfinder, seeing your screen pic with the weather bands realy got me thing of up grade my gps and fish/deepfinder to a lowerance like that. here in south louisiana we get plenty of summer showers that just pop up.

Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
IslandRunner - I bought all my starboard from Cesany Plastics through his ebay page (free shipping). Was by far the cheapest price I could find on starboard, and he cuts it to your desired size for free! I have the HDS-5x so I can have full time chartplotter with all the radar information/sea surface temp/winds/etc on it and then also have a full time bottom machine. The HDS-5s are really too small to do split screen on, you can do it, but to me its just too small. Plus I got that unit used 1 year old from a charter captain in NC with everything that came with it in the original packaging, the price was right. :D

Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
SeaPlusPlus,
That is one sweet ride you've got there!! You have done an amazing job! Good idea on the cutting board...we used to use a raised surface like that to mount amps and crossovers in our trunks. We would drill holes next to each terminal of each piece of equipment, about an inch away, and run the wires down through and behind the panel (cutting board). Just a different effect... Enjoy that bad boy Brandon |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
What happened to all the photos? Came here to show the wife what our 20' could look like?!? :(

Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Sorry guys, I rebuilt that web server and forgot to set up the virtual host again for the domain the images were hosted on. Images should be working again.

Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Doing great man, busy with work and the girlfriend, took a vacation to the Canadian Rockies recently which was amazing. Haven't used the SeaCraft as much as I'd like but that will get better as the months warm up. How bout you?
|
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Hey, Noah. Been after those stripers? I haven't had a chance to go, yet. :( Some buddies of mine have been going out of Oregon Inlet and said they were stacked up in front of the Wright Bros. Memorial. Happy New Year!

Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Looks incredible, very thoughtful execution!
Also good to here that you have been happy with Prime, I have looked at their ebay page many times. Where did you get the red rope light? |
Re: Spring Project(s) 74 20SF
Was able to buy the domain back that most of the pictures were referenced to, all pictures should be working again. :D
