I have a 1986 27 Tournament. With twin Merc 250 efi's, she hits 52-54mph at 5700 rpms (WOT). At around 3100 rpms...I think I do around 30mph.

The boat is a heavy battle wagon but there is a guy on the Cape (Joe Fitzback) who has a 27 with a single 300hp ETEC. I do not know the performance but KernelTugBoat is friends with him and can probably get the details.

Based on BigShrimpin's feedback of a single Merc 150 3.0L foustroke on his 23, I considered buying twin Merc 150's for my 27, but I don't want to be a guinea pig and potentially make a $25,000 mistake.

I do know that there is a Conch 27 for sale with Twin Merc 150 3.0L foustrokes and the owner swears by them.

The new 225 v6 four strokes should be perfect.

Hi Ed,

I have not checked the site for a while. getting teady to post a friends 23 Sceptre IO as soon as he gets me all the details. Anyway, In regards to your post...Unfortunately Joe sold the 27. Sold it without the motor (I think) So we will never know how a single 300 would run! . I think the new 350HP Zuke with the Duoprop would be a little better for a Single. Although the 300 should have been fine for what he wanted to do. He bought a house in the Philippines, and is winding down a little. He bought a 23' boat to do the charters along with his 20 Maritime.

Well it only took 10 short years for Todd's 27 to find a new home ! :D

Coming to Daytona area.. Our member jasnyder1 made the deal and brought it to its new home... That makes four 27's that I know of in our area !!

In 2014, my pregnant wife and I drove up to central Florida to meet with Todd and look at his boat. Todd walked me through the boat and I clearly saw the love, sweat and $$$ he invested into it. While Todd's boat was not right for me at the time (I needed a runner that was ready to use and wound up buying a 27' 6 months later), my meeting with him convinced me it was the boat for me. He was a gracious host and we stayed in touch over the years exchanging the occasional emails when either one of us had a question about our 27's.

While I am sad to see that Todd never got to finish his boat, I am excited for the new owner. Please pass on my congratulations to them!

I think I know the (4) 27's in the Daytona area, NoBones. Let's see if I am correct:

1) Ken Nies
2) The one with the Dusky bracket on it that was at the Seacraft gathering a couple of years back
3) The husband and wife who bought one last year
4) Todd's Lures

Am I correct?

Right on....

Me "NoBones"
Freddie "Seahoss27" (currently at Stoner getting new bracket & power)
Eric & Cindy "Natural High" (got running, but currently finishing 23 "Savanami")
Arron "jasnyder" Todd's 27

Thanks Ken.

I am happy to hear that Seahoss 27 is at Stoner's. I spoke to Josh at length about building a bracket for mine and it was a go and then COVID hit and he had to shutdown, so I had to go with plan B. At the end of the day, Armstrong did an incredible job and I am happy. What power is Seahoss getting?

NoBones 12-16-2020 10:10 PM

Twin 300 Zukes at International on the return trip from Stoner's !! Yikes ..

Ed 12-16-2020 11:17 PM

I can't wait to see pictures and find out she performs with twin 300 Suzuki's. Keep me posted on his progress, please.
