Teak Door Jambs that house the door?

If so, yes. I have made some of them in the past and have the pattern and wood in stock to make another set.

I decided to go RETRO, and rebuild/mfg my original Teak Louvered door. We bought the boat "new" in 1977, so I know the Teak door is the original. As the before pictures shows the SeaCraft had some hardtimes when my brother was in charge (for 9 years it sat outside in a fenced in field). So I have done a ton of rehabbing over the past 4 years.

The original Teak door was a mess. The Stringers, Headers, and base sections were totally rotten and disintegrated due to sun and water damage. But the Louvers were in okay structural shape, albeit, badly sun bleached on the exposed side. The unexposed side of the louvers (Toward the cabin) were in good shape.

So this winter, I decided to remake the unuseable, original Teak pieces, and lightly sanded down the unexposed side of the "original" louvers and make a "retro-mod" of our original Teak door. The boat has a lot of sentimental meaning, as my father loved this SeaCraft and he passed away in 1995. So I like to keep as much original as I can.

The louver design jig(s) I use to custom fabricate the "New" Teak doors is exactly the same dimensions as the original Door/Louver design that came on the SeaCraft's in the 1970's. So it was easy to fit the older "original" louvers in the "new" door framework.

So now my 35 year old SeaCraft is sporting a 35 year old hybrid original Teak door. I know the originality doesn't make it worth more $$, but due to the family significance it means more to me...

Good guess, but not actually. They were for a 1970's Classic AquaSport (24' Sea Hunter) pic below.

Mike,

I don't have any of the Sceptre and/or Savage doors in stock & finished at this time. I do have a lot of Teak and Starboard too, if you want me to custom build you a set. Just let me know...

CSC member in TX? I'm looking for CSC company, in Ft. Worth...sigh...too far from "real" water...

I'm thinking of a nice single door for my 20' Seafari. It's on my Christmas wish list!

Ed in Ft. Worth, TX.

Two Starboard Louvered Door/Frames I just shipped out for a CC.

I am adding a new door to my wish list for my 74 Scepter. What is your price for both Teak and Starboard. I am considering using my current door as a template and making my own this winter, but it looks like you have these figured out really well.

The current price for either a Burmese Teak or white Starboard louvered bi-fold door for a Sceptre is $385 plus freight. That price doesn't include the SST piano hinge that you should still have and be able to reuse.

Last call for Louvered doors before I close up the shop for the winter. I have time for one more project before the Holidays.

Briguy 11-29-2015 07:58 AM

I have not read this whole thread. How about doors for a 23
center console? Mine never had any so I don't even know
what they would have looked like.

I believe the 23' CC had two smaller Louvered doors that slid side to side on a frame with a track. I think this was a factory upgrade option. Maybe someone on the board has a picture of this configuration or can confirm this.

Louvered Doors

Hey Jim
The CSC guys are tough. Your louvered doors look great. So they have to find something to pick on like the soot line on your stern or dirty feet on your cute kid! BTW my since dead 28 year old Black Max left a black line too, maybe time for an upgrade and keep Lake Murray cleaner? Oops I did it too!

DonV 02-15-2018 11:54 AM

Ya know Jim did a fantastic job on the CSC T-shirts, however I think he really nails it on these doors. Well done Jimbo!! :)

I had not built a louvered Teak door for a Sceptre/Tsunami in a while. Below is my latest re-creation, for Scott G.
