Wow . . . beautiful boat and some ridiculous numbers. What does the 25hull weigh?

Thank you Denny. I didn't consult with Carl regarding the lateral steps. However after the design was completed and construction began I visited him and Jeanne to show and tell him what we were doing. At that point there were many more questions than answers by all involved. I'm hoping for an opportunity to take him for a ride.

Bigshrimpin, thank you... The unrigged hull weighs 1900lbs. When we saw those numbers the total weight was around 3350lbs including myself, the owner, fuel and gear.

castalot 09-14-2014 06:30 PM

Can we order one or three

Very impressive, What carbon did you use for the project? Standard Biaxial like 1700 or did you use something like a 12k weave? I have wanted to use some higher end materials on my hull but have a hard time finding a good price on biaxial where as there are tons of weave pattern materials on close outs for cheep. I assume most of all the laminates were vacuumed bagged or infused in order to get the best weight to cloth ratio.

Thank you but sorry, this is a one and only. Working on a 36 that may end up going into production though.

She likes to be loaded, especially back aft. Keep that in mind while finishing your race hull.

10oz biaxial was used. Many companies are reselling the product so be careful and ask many for quotes. Try Core Composites... This boat was fully infused over the wood plug.

So many variables are unknown. The main tank is 169 gal and SS. No idea what that weighs, but at least that weight is low in her belly. The forward aux tank is 50 and aluminum. Where the ballast tank was. Anyone know where the main tankage was
and if the capacity is close?

From childhood, I was always a jump in the deep end of the pool before knowing how to swim kinda guy. Shocking here, I know.

I also know I am a dyed in the wool Yankee who wanted nothing more than to be a Redneck racer. Much to my parental units consternation.

The greatest lesson I have learned here is to ask questions.

If I were to re-core my Slacker`s coffin cover now, I would use epoxy. Ok, at the very least vinylester. Hey, it`s progress right?

Cheers,
GFS

We won 3rd place in the under 30' Clearwater "Holiday - Memorial" (aka. "Christmas") Boat Parade December 13th. It is a tribute to CSC member Capitan "Alcatraz" Anderson of Cape May. Do not pay attention to the refelection in the water the conditions were terrible - we had to wear socks with out flip flops and long sleeve tee shirts!!!

McGillicuddy 12-18-2014 01:59 PM

Wow, that's pretty cool - the pelican, that is...nice tribute.

Us Swedes have to look out for each other, Gillie.

Terry has inspired us to decorate the boat this year instead of the house. Took her out this weekend on the river and had a great time! Here is a pic of her anchored up in the yard....

Looks awesome

cdavisdb 12-22-2014 06:27 PM

Love it!

Terry England 12-23-2014 08:22 AM

Kenny, the Classic lines of the Sceptre look great and it's safer to decorate than stapling the lights on the eaves like Clark Griswold!
SECO Enegy would be proud of you - spool up the turbines in Palatka!
Give Mel a big 'ol Christmas hug for us.
