Even though the boat's not completely done, I had to compare the before and after paint job.

Got the Center Console back in the boat with new paint, new compass and new steering wheel. Moved anchor locker hinges to the side. The crooked bow light hole still driving me crazy every time I see it, it's still on the list. Replaced pull-up cleats with pop-up cleats and added some shiny new hinges at the stern.

looking sharp!

Inside of center console gel coated, battery holders installed. And plywood (painted white) on port side of center console so amps can be mounted without screwing through the outside of the freshly painted center console.

Powder coated T-Top and subwoofer installed.

The project looks great. What brand and size is that anchor locker hatch? I'm looking for something similar for my bow.
|
Thanks! The anchor locker is custom made. We drew the shape we wanted, cut it out and fabricated fiberglass gutters. The lid is the piece of fiberglass deck that was cut out, painted it, then added hinges, moved the hinges so it opens from the side, patched the old hinge holes, sanded, repainted and voila!

A little snag... The JL Audio Subwoofer sticks out a little too far. So the lid of floor hatch hits the sub and can't open all the way. Ugh! Decided to route out around the speaker to try to move it back enough so the lid will open, changing the floor hatch dimensions at this point would be tough. It was looking so good, hope it still looks good after the speaker mod. Gotta make it work! That sub faceplate is pretty thick.
|
Man just redo the floor hatch -
It's all about the base, Bro' |
Save yourself some work and keep the bass - Hinge it in front with gas hatch springs.
|
Great suggestions, thanks! We had thought of doing a hinge on the front when we were first kicking around ideas for opening that odd shaped hatch. That would sure solve a lot of problems now. I'm hoping we can leave that sub install alone, I sure like the way it looks. And the sub-box is currently perfectly sized for the woofer... Because of the shape, the hatch would only open so far before hitting the seats. I will need to test and see how far it could open.
Update... We're going for the front hinge and gas springs! Thanks! |

Rubrail done on port side. Whew, lots of work getting the insert in.

Laying out the seat backs. Using Taco Leaning post back rest and Lee's Rod storage holders to attach it. Will have to resize the seat back and reupholster, but the hardware works. Had to try a few different rod racks to get a size that fit the Taco leaning post perfectly. You'd figure all rod holders, seatback inserts and rod racks are all about the same size, they're not.

Splash guard templates done. These will be cut out of clear plexi-glass and sit in an Aluminum U-channel (not installed yet). U-channel will be attached to transom with 5200 on the bottom and side. So the guard will be able to be put in and taken out with no tools. Quick and easy for access to the swim platform, but locks in place so doesn't fall out going over waves.

New Canvas installed on the T-Top, Floor hatch is in place with hinges in the front, Upholstery supports going in on bow seats and bow back rests are ready to be installed in front seats. I used the posts from 2 leaning post backs. The upholstery will be bright white with a couple of lite yellow stripes and an embroidered black SeaCraft Logo! Richie at Gator Upholstery in Ft. Lauderdale (Oakland Park, FL) is doing the upholstery. I heard on the thehulltruth.com lots of positives. So far, he has been amazing to work with! Very impressed with prices and service and I've seen his quality work. Very Nice!
Every couple steps forward though, there seems to be one step back, one of the handful of workers (not Gator upholstery) who have been on the boat cracked the freshly painted gunnel this week... it can be fixed, but I guess the silver lining is, it will be covered by the gunnel bolsters. |
Very sharp. What did you use for your non-skid?
|
came a long way, great looking boat you have !

Very, very nice.
Is that a fully cantilevered swim platform or will it have some vertical supports added above or below? |

First time boat has been out of the warehouse since it went in for rebuild and paint job, it been over a year! (About time, right?!)
The boat went in the shop when I was 48, I hope to get it back before I turn 50 next month... Hurry Up! Time is running out! haha. And... Taking the boat in for final touch up paint and the wheel fell off, the axel broke! D'OH! |
Well on the bright side at least you weren't going down the highway at 60 miles an hour:eek:The boat looks awesome good luck with it!

Anchor Tube
3 Attachment(s)
Anchor tube installed in the locker. Took me 3 days to get the design and all the measurements. Tougher than I thought, but came out decent.
Cut a piece of 4" PVC, originally going to use L-brackets (home depot shelf brackets, or aluminum L-brackets) but decided to attach the tube to a wedge of 2x4's in a V shape to cradle the tube a bit. Now that I have a good wood template, I'll either fiberglass it, or get it made out of some non-wood product. But for our vacation next week, it'll work. |
Upholstery - SeaCraft Proud!
6 Attachment(s)
Upholstery is in, and I think this looks sharp!
I'm as proud as a SeaCraft owner can be! |
Looks great ! Isn't it funny how long it takes to come up with what looks like a simple solution------- until you have to figure it out!
|
GTRKEV, You have every right to be proud - It turned out Beautiful. Good job, Brother
|
The boat looks great. But one question. Shouldn't the stitching on the cushions say SF not FS? I'm not knocking the work or the boat. You can probably take it back and have them redo it.
|
True, it WAS an SF... until I modified it. Now it's an FS, Front Seating... :)
|
Boat looks great, nice job!
Rod |
Looks awesome!
|
Thanks for all the kind words!!!
It's been 1 1/4 years since I put the boat in the shop after owning it only a couple weeks, originally to replace the gas tank, which turned into a major rebuild. Got the boat back a couple days ago. Had the annual engine service done yesterday and we're heading to Islamorada in the FL Keys tomorrow to test it out for a week! I can't wait! |
