The taco site has a real good video on installing the rubrail. They go over all of the details which was pretty good seeing.

kmoose 04-25-2017 04:27 PM

I checked with American Marine today on the windshield molding and they want $4.49 per foot and I need 70 feet! I think that is really high and was wondering if anyone else had a source. The molding is TP 139.

Snookerd 04-25-2017 08:57 PM

I will check out Tacos site. Thanks. Older boats that have a new rub rail may have lost some of their structural fastener screws? I'm going to talk to an old-school glass shop about the molding situation. One of my side windows is popping out of the frame.

Self tapping/backing screws eventually wallow and fail. I`m learning slowly.

This is one of the reasons my cap and hull is being glassed together.

I may have enough of the used stuff I'm pulling out to cover you on the window trim. The glass falling out is a different issue. That is caused by the glazing bedding tape drying out and losing its adhesive. The only way to really fix it is to pull the glazing bead trim, glass and bedding tape and replace the bedding.

Here are some more update pics... Lots of little mods to do but the major cap replacement is done. The foot longer cabin and front deck is really noticeable and I believe the arch on the bow is slightly more rounded. She should be very unique when its done.

The dash looks huge without the glovebox, dash pod and folding top. There will be a lip all the way around the face edge to divert any water that gets in to the side corners and will also keep things put on the dash from sliding off.

I get and have gotten it. The autopilot doesn't mind handling it though:). I think Mel is also looking at a power assist unit with that 2.4 helm but the Zuke has the tournament series Ram and is well buffered.

We're really shooting for the coveted "Gucci" award with the overhaul. It may not make it with sparkle but I'm hopping she'll slide over the line in the One of a Kind uniqueness scale. ;)

nice...quite a restomod,looking forward to the progress

Ken – I think your cabin modification is The number one modification to improving our boats. I have one additional modification that is tied to the cabin that I would seriously consider if I can get around to your level of commitment with my boat. Carl didn't arrive at his designs without a lot of modifications and even then was always changing designs for the better.

I am looking forward to the finished product! Did you decide against the angled helm station?

Not at all. I am going down to mark the finished face angle this weekend.

Snookerd 04-27-2017 10:48 AM

Good deal. Well worth it.

kmoose 04-27-2017 11:32 AM

I am really looking forward to the extended cabin dimensions created from the mods. In overall appearance it should look like a cross between a Tsunami/Scepter and a Seavette.

Snookerd 04-27-2017 02:50 PM

Very functional!

Got to visit the sled today a finished laying out the final details on the helm and bilge access. I am thrilled with the new layout and lines created by moving the helm back lengthening the bow. To me and others it really has changed the overall look.

You and I are going to have to test fly this thing before the windshield and top! Me thinks the 20 will be the right prop now. Going to be very interesting to see how she does after the diet.

Snookerd 05-03-2017 04:08 PM

We need more pictures

Just a couple more side shots from the bow and stern!! Looking good.

Serious question, Ken what Suzuki dealer do you use in Pinellas? I plan on using your guy (who is your contact?)to do my 100Hr service. I need the dealer name and number if possible. Thanks Moose

kmoose 05-03-2017 04:25 PM

Robert at Precision Marine in St. Pete. 727-518-2151.... No better tech IMHO.

I couldn't get full pics from bow to stern due to the close quarters in the shop. Here are a few of the new dash, glassing progress of the cap and hull and the transom interior taking shape.

Thank you! Those pictures look great. The dash is looking good!

HeadHunter 05-04-2017 08:21 AM

The picture of the drivers side dash makes it look like the "black" piece is an add on. Like a piece of starboard to cover old previous holes etc.. It's not. It's actually a piece of Coosa glassed in to the Nidacore. Will provide a stronger base for the tilt helm.

Snookerd 05-04-2017 05:16 PM

Booked the 100hr with Robert. Thanks Ken.

No problem. You will be impressed... very knowledgeable Zuke Dealer. If you have any questions make sure you ask.

Progressing fast at the shop. I'm really impressed on how the cabin entrance is shaping up. Built in cooler is going to hold plenty and also serves as a seat pedestal.

Getting further down the road. Hull and cap are glassed together and look great. One of my desires was to have a huge, easy access bilge. That wish was granted with a cavern like area that is easy, large and will make pump, filter, and transducer maintenance a no hassle chore.

The dash and cabin entrance is a total revision. Lots of room for electronics and a real compass where the dash pod used to be.

Terry England 05-14-2017 05:49 PM

Don't clutter that dash up with a bunch of electronics - we got to have room for the pizza!

cdavisdb 05-15-2017 08:24 AM

Electronics are very very nice, but a really good compass is unbeatable. Good planning.

Pizza too? What more could the heart desire.

Wow! That's a lot of work getting done. I can't wait to see the final layout and look.

Yes, little did people know the dash under the windshield of a Tsunami approaches the temperature of a wood fired pizza oven and while you can't bake a fresh pizza you can certainly get a pie from the night before to an acceptable temp. Just my little part in going solar with this build. :)

Well the hull made it home today and looks great. I'm going to do some initial rigging and then it's off to get the sides awlgripped in ghost grey. Still tons to do including the Hermco bracket, windshield, top, jewelry, and all new electrical. Mel is thrilled with the new interior, bigger cuddy and longer bow. Hoping to splash her by the July 4th weekend.
