... question: did you have to move the trailer axles any to compensate for center of gravity shift?? if so, approx. how much??

Steve, FYI - I had to move axle aft about 12" on my 20 to get adequate tongue weight, but I also added new motor that was over 100 lbs heavier. Wouldn't think you'd have to adjust the trailer that much on a 23.

With the same motor, this will be an interesting back-to-back test to determine performance benefits of a bracket! Should be able to raise that motor at least 3-4" or so relative to keel, from where it was on transom! I went up over 4" on mine and AV plate is still not quite out of the water as it should be when on plane.

Looking Good :D I want to see your new waterline ;) I also bet your see a quicker jump on plane. You will see improvements on both that you will like!

The wiring works :) All lights, pumps, etc. work. I moved oil tank and batteries forward and still have ~ 1 foot storage in front. The hanging wire will be pulled back through for under electronics box red/white light. I went with Blue Sea switch/ACR, external box, fuse and switch panels. I ran 1/0 cables to post in the rear. The small post is the Yamaha aux charging lead which I'm not using. I would like to give credit to www.genuinedealz.com on their wiring products, ability to follow fabrication instructions, pricing, and turn around time; Those guys are FAST!! I built the switch/key panel from 3/4" white starboard and the drip-lip from 1/4". The fuse panel cover is off in these pics. The Yamaha started right up! So I need to finish baitwell plumbing, mount leaning post, install Bay Mfg. engine extension, new water pump, rub rail (at some point) and tidy up a bit.

i like the oil tank up there. how much weight did it move forward?? also is there an access to fill it? it looks like it would be kinda hard to. btw how do you like the led spreader?? can i get a few night pics?? thanks

Re: '73 23' Rework & boat porn :)

Not sure about the amount of weight moved forward ??? 2 Optimas and 1 oil tank?? I can reach the fill easy through the front console seat. Ill get night shots of the LED's for you.

I changed the water pump and installed the Bay Mfg. 5" extension kit last night. Yes, the woodruff key is HE!!, TG for Dremel :) I did have to "drill" the engine drive shaft channel with the 1 1/8" hole saw as Bay said might be needed. I rigged a 3/8" extension, 7/16" socket, hole saw and duct tape...this was special!

I cranked it tonight and everything is good. Yes, I have blue paint ordered. Leaning post delivery Monday/Tuesday I hope and trial run next weekend maybe. Thanks for all the advice/comments/help/etc. especially Strick for answering my stupid questions :)

I stripped the lower unit and used ColorRite primer/paint/clearcoat. It looks pretty decent! I also got the bolsters mounted today. The leaning post should be here Tuesday and hopefully a test ride this weekend :)
